Slide out not moving smoothly

We have a 2017 Heritage Glen Ultra Light with single living room slideout. The slide doesn’t move in and out very smoothly - it’s a little, I guess the best way to describe it is “jumpy”. Is this normal? On another note, which may be related, we have a torn side wiper seal. It is now out of warranty. Are these seals hard to replace? Should we be lubricating the slide mechanism in any way (was not instructed to do so by dealer when we purchased). Thanks. Dealer is not much help except to estimate about $500 to replace wiper seal.

I buy the lubricant spray for rv slides, and spray the slide tracks every couple of months. I also have a torn wiper seal, it looks as if they just pull out and the new one slides in, take a good look at yours first. You have to order the right one, mine appears to be part of the seal.

I would check to make sure the slide out is properly aligned, like it is in the middle of the opening. My slide was not aligned properly and tore the seal. I had to align it myself. Not hard to align and replace. I bought mine at Steele Rubber company online. They are between 2 and 5 dollars a foot.

What kind of slide mechanism is it? Some, like the swintec slides, need to be kept aligned by holding the buttons a few seconds after they are all the way out or in to "align" them. We just use the slide out lube made by camco to the mechanism every so often.

From what we can see, our slide doesn’t have a track? There are just 2 white rollers it moves in and out on? Thanks for your response.

So no tracking along the sides or cables? How about underneath us there any tracking?

Make sure. The rollers are free spinning and not gunked up with dirt.

Look underneath and see if you have, what is called, a rank and pinion mechanism.
My thinking is, make sure the slide is aligned properly. Meaning, measure the distances between slide ends to the wall opening, should be the same. I can take pictures on what I am talking about if needed. Good luck.

Our Flagstaff's dining room slide has only one rack due to its small size.

It wobbles like crazy going in and out.

I am also curious how long it will stay in sync.

I also have the single track on the underside. It does move a little "jerky" but it just pivots up and down a little. Dealer says that is normal.

I have found if you wax the slide sides and give the seals a good cleaning and then use some seal protection, I like Arospace 303 the slide will move more easily.

Slide

It would help to know the type of slides you have.

I have hydraulic slides and when my battery gets low or needs replaced it will not run smoothly.

I find balance is important. Heavy stuff on one side causes wobble.
