Slide Out Seal Protectant

Hello,
What protectant/spray, if any, should I be applying to the slide out seals to keep them in great shape and not have them dry out or crack?
Thank you in advance.

I use armor all. It's what I have around. Works lo these 11 years. I think anything you put on them is a plus.

Not true that "anything" is a plus...if you use a petroleum distillate based product you will be doing more harm than good, you will cause the seals to dry up. I 2nd Aerospace 303...it's a UV inhibitor, also works great on your decals.

Baby powder X 2
Dealer told us to use baby powder when we picked up the unit new. Has been a good suggestion.

I also use Protectant 303. They have products for cleaning, detailing as well as awnings. All have UV inhibitors.
I've used their products on both lake and ocean boats as well. IMHO, nothing comes close and I've tried many different products.

You will get many suggestions and opinions.

Here is mine...
Aerospace 303 Protectant
Wurth Silicone Free Rubber Care. (not available for sale in all areas)
Baby Powder (no cornstarch)

All have served me well in over 40 years of use.

I use the protect all product that others have mentioned... how often does everyone apply their products of choice, I was told by the dealer a couple times a year is adequate (beginning and end of season) but I applied a couple extra times to be safe.. just wondering if that's overdoing it and maybe doing more harm than good...??

thanks,

It probably depends on how often the slides are used. I was going to say a couple times per year.

I use baby powder, too. Easy to apply with a microfiber cloth, smells great (to me, anyway), is non-toxic (for the most part) and is affordable. So far, so good. I apply it once a year as I only get about 25 nights a year in my RV. Twice a year application would be easy to manage too though, if need be.

I actually don't know. I just picked up a bottle at the dollar store and used it. I keep it out in the TT so it is handy when I need it.

We have always use Protectall Dry lube. Works well and we have also used baby powder. The Rrotectall is also a rust inhibitor. Make sure you clean your slide fins good prior to application as with all RVs they are subject to a fair amount of dust and dirt.

I use the dry lube on the gears under the slideout but it should not be used on the seals. They have their rubber seal treatment product for that purpose.
