Slide out will not retract

Just bought a 2000 Flagstaff 26D, did not receive a manual. The slide out will not come in. Worked fine now does not seem to have any power at all. If we fully charge the battery it will work for a short while. Is there a fuse or something else we need to check? Everything else seems to work fine. Thanks for any input!

Normally you have to have the camper plugged in order to have the slide out go in or out or you have to manually crank the slide out in with the crank

If it works for a short time with the battery fully charged, sounds like the battery does not have enough reserve power to handle the slide. Have you tried the slides when plugged in?

it sounds like you don't have the trailer plugged into shore power and if you don't have a battery disconnect switch, the parasitic power draws will drain your battery in a few days.

so, is the trailer plugged into shore power? or are you charging the battery separately?

The camper is plugged in but someone told me the slide runs off the battery? I don't know if this is correct but we are having trouble even plugged in.

slideout

If yours is like mine, you want to have a fully charged GOOD battery HOOKED up. And plugged in to shore power ,when possible.

It sounds like you might have a weak battery. The slides draw alot of power and need a good battery.

Yes, the slides are powered by a 12v motor. The power converter charges the battery when plugged in; but if that camper has an old battery, it will give you problems like what you are describing. Be sure to get a deep cycle RV/Trolling motor type of battery. The slides should work when plugged into your truck or tow vehicle with the motor running, however. Your converter may be malfunctioning, but I would suspect that battery. Randy
