Slide out works when battery disconnect switch OFF??

Why would my slide out work when I have the battery set to OFF (which turns off all power)??

I am pretty sure you already considered this, but just in case, you weren't plugged in to shore power, were you?

Slide out works when battery disconnect switch OFF??

Not plugged in to anything. I thought the battery had died because after I put the slide out I tried to turn on the water pump and nothing happened. But then the slide came back in just fine ... so I checked the battery and saw my kill switch had been on the whole time. So how could the slide get power at all? I only have 1 battery ... and I was looking at it!

Well, if the battery were the only source of power and the kill switch were off, then I'd say your kill switch ain't killing nuthin!

Unless you have the only slide on earth that operates on propane!

Seriously, is anything else operating while kill switch is in off position?

Unfortunety builders and installers sometime take the easy path to the battery by passing the kill switch. I had To put a disconnect on the battery post to insure a compeate kill.

I can promise you NOTHING else is working on electric when the kill switch is on (or "OFF" ... whatever). I'll have to look more closely at the wiring to the battery and through the switch. I guess the good news is that the slide really doesn't draw any power when it's just sitting there, but still ... really weird.

Well, if the slide is the only thing that bypasses the kill switch then that could actually be a plus. My main reason for having installed a kill switch was as a wooden stake for the vampires (detectors).

Unless you disconnect right at the battery, some things will still work.
Like the slide or power tongue jack.

I'll have to try the tongue jack! Good point. Yes, the main purpose of the kill is to stop the d*** detectors!

Typically there are several items fused directly off the battery. They include and not limited to, slides/electric steps/electric awning etc.. All of these items require a switch action to operate and therefore they do not cause any drain on the battery unless operated.

On my 2017 Prime Time Crusader Lite 29RS both slides and the landing gear work with the master switch in the off position. Everything else in powered down. I like it that way. Also thought ir was suppose to be that way. Hmm

Makes sense! I thought maybe mine was wired wrong. Now I'll have to try all those things. The water pump does NOT work. That I know! [emoji51]

The kill switch on my 33IK is wired the same way. Since the slide motor has no parasitic draw it does not drain your battery. Radio LED's and smoke detector LED's will. If you want it all disconnected I guess you will need to add your own kill switch.

be careful when you say slides don't draw power if not being activated. ours has a little remote fob that can be used to activate the slides. this means there is a receiver in the trailer that has is always on waiting for a signal from the remote. this draws power. I think I found 4 items that were drawing power even if the disconnect is turned to off (slide controller, propane detector, co detector, radio).

Good point..I luckily don't have the FOB and remote stuff as mine is a 2016. What does your disconnect turn off?

I traced all the wiring on my TT. 2 things bypass the shut off switch. The trailer emergency break and the wire to the zamp port. Everything else is dead when off.

My slide has a syncronizer board for the motors and is flashing red lights all the time so glad it is disconnected.

Ditto with my 2016 27RK. Also, my battery will charge with shore, Benny or Tow vehicle with battery disconnect on.

forgot to mention that the generator is also directly wired to the batteries and bypasses the disconnect switch. I believe it has a control board in it that is always on monitoring for signals from either the generator on/off switches, automatic start sensors, etc. also, the inverter is also wired directly to the batteries and again I think it has a continuously monitoring capability. the break away switch is also wired directly to the batteries but since it is a mechanical on/off switch it is not drawing power unless activated. we also have some 12 volt electrically operated slides and they are wired directly to the batteries but again they have a mechanical switch so no power draw unless switch is activated.

the factory installed disconnect switch turns off the lights, furnace, awnings, vent fans, and the converter to battery charge line.
