Slide pops when it comes all the way in or out!

Should my slide mechanism on my Cherokee 30L make a loud grinding/poping noise when I slide the room all the way out or when it comes all the way back in? It's a lippert electric with gear and crossbar. It only makes this noise when it reaches the limit of the rooms travel. All the way in or all the way out. The dealer I bought it from says this is normal....I'd not think so. Plz help

In my opinion.... No. Mine on the Sunseeker are Lippert electrical ones and the previous owner used to let them "pop" 2 or 3 times when he ran them in and out. Now that I have rebuilt both of them I understand where that popping noise comes from. The gears can't take any more pressure so they are basically slipping teeth and this will eventually sheer off your half moon keys. I did the work myself and it isn't a whole lot of fun.

Now I run them almost too there max and then just bump the switch a couple of times to seat them..... No "popping" involved.

Thanks for the quick reply. Didn't know if there was supposed to be a limit switch of some sort to prevent this and subsequent damage to the gear teeth or mis- alignment.

No limit switch that I have ever been aware of.

I believe others have said they always let theirs pop and have never had a problem. It's just my opinion that I think it's a bad idea. It will ruin your day when those keys shear off.
