Exclamation Slide Seals

I have a 2012 Forest River Salem Grand Villa destination RV. I had the slide seals replaced last year after they turned very gummy and basically disintegrated.. Now the new seals are becoming very gummy and sticky too. What is causing this?

UV from the sun is the culprit.

Do you treat the seals at regular intervals with UV protectant (303 Aerospace Protectant, etc.)? If you haven't, you should. It also sounds like the rubber wasn't UV stabilized.

On both of my slides at the top corners is some mitered sheet metal. On the inside of the corner is a piece of eternabond tape covering that seam. Since mine are painted black the adhesive absorbs heat and oozes around the tape moves slightly. Both seals at both ends were torn from that and had to be replace. I now check the tape for that condition and remove the adhesive ooze with mineral spirits and alcohol to keep it from doing a repeat performance
