slide stuck out

Help. We just got back from our maiden voyage with our 2014 Sabre 34REQS-6. We stopped by the house to off load our stuff before putting it back in storage. DH ran the bedroom slide out to access the closet. When he went to bring it back in there is no power to the slide motor at all. No click, no noise, nothing. Fuse looks good. It is the roller type slide. He was able to push it in some of the way but not all the way. My driveway is a big hill so I can't disconnect and leave it here until repaired and I need my truck to get to work tomorrow. Any suggestions? If it helps, I have noticed some thumps when it goes in and out prior to this but could never find a reason. Dealership said thumps were normal. Thanks.

Have you tried using the manual wrench/tool yet?

Is it the slide with the motor above and has 4 cables that extend with it? On the outside? Is the motor above the slide?

Ok so here is where we are now... slide motor quit because cords pulled out of connector. We reconnected it but now slide is off track. The motor and slide mechanism are under the bed inside the trailer. When you try to go out your hear grinding, when you try to come in you hear it try but nothing catches. There is no manual crank for this slide. When we asked the tech during pdi how to get non functioning slide in, he said you get a couple of people and push it in.

I was able to pull it far enough forward that it was level enough to chock it and drop it. I will now be calling dealership in the morning and telling them to come fix it. This happening in addition to the other issues we found between pdi and this weekend have me more than a little worried and angry. I knew there would be break in issues but it really is starting to add up. I will give the dealership and forest river a chance to make it right before I get too negative though.

How far out of level was the trailer when you ran the slide out?

Not bad, just a little nose high. We usually park before it gets to out of level. We used to run the slide on our tt on the same hill all the time. No issues.

Here are some pictures of the slide mechanism. What kind do I have ?

The first 4 are under the bed in the master.

This is underneath the outside of the slide.

This is the slide stuck halfway in.

If it has cables, it could be an Accu-slide? Here is manual

No cables just gears on the inside with a bar that goes across Between the two gears. it has rollers on the outside. I have not seen this set up before.

Not for certain but looks like Lipperts design. One thing for certain the outside wiper seals are dragging and "flipping" on the slide sides causes more load due friction.

Looked at the manual, that doesn't line up either. I should have been worried when the tech that did my pdi didn't know either.

I think you're correct, the attach is a variation of " in wall slide", by Schwintec, yours meanwhile is a fixed motor/gearbox setup. From your description you have a failed pinion (broken tooth), attempting to engage one direction and free wheeling the other. Since the gear box is accessible, not a bad warranty repair.

Yeah, I will let the techs fix this one. I will report back when I know what slide it is. Thanks.

Ok so here is where we stand. It does appear fonzie was right. It looks to be a power gear slide with a center drive assembly. Talked to the dealership today. They are trying to help me out and get to me but are short staffed right now. They said to bring it in manually you have to use a bolt on the motor. To do this you must unscrew the plywood off the bed to get to it.

Our problem was multifactorial. First was the reason we kept losing power. We lost power because it is wired so that the wire connectors get pinched under the slide and end up disconnecting. The slide appears to hang up on this. Next the slide is off track. We utilized the bolt to ratchet the slide gears in. Sadly the tears came in without the slide. We were then able to manually push the slide in the rest of the way except for the last quarter inch. I'm thinking of getting 2x4 cut into lengths to bar the slide roof and keep it from sliding back out. Question is will this work if the slide is free sliding or will I need to find a way to wedge th d bottom too? Thanks

I'd wedge both the top and bottom if you can.

Thanks we are driving it to the dealership after work tonight. They expect to have it for two weeks depending on getting parts etc. The service manager has been very willing to work with me and very honest about any potential delays. I appreciate his honesty and that he has been easy to communicate with. Hopefully the relationship will remain positive through getting this fixed.

All you really need to do is cut a 2x4 and wedge on top. THere should be about 2" of metal that it will lay against and hold it close. I keep a 2x6 just for that. Mine shorted out when going 60 mphs and opened on me. Got stop and brought it in and now I keep it installed now all time when traveling.....
