Slide topper replacement

This weekend I'm replacing the fabric on all three slides. I was curious for those that did it which technique did you use and any lessons learned?

Technique:
A- Removed the roller tube from the brackets to unwind/replace fabric
B- Partially moved the slide out, lock the roller tube to unwind/replace fabric
C- Fully extended the slide, lock the roller tube to unwind/replace fabric
D- Other
E- Don't remember. Had too many

With so many responses I decided to post an update. Got all three slides changed. Two were done fully extended but the last had to be brought in a little because I couldn't reach the main wall.

It went fairly fast. Unwound the topper, put a hex key in the hole to prevent it from winding back up, pulled off the old and installed the new.
