Slide topper tension

I bought a 2017 Prime Time Crusader FW equipped with slide topper. The topper fibric is loose and hold a good amount of water after rain.

Is that normal, if not can the tension be adjusted. I did not get any documentation so I don’t know the brand.

Thanks.

After a heavy rain, I raise my rear stabilizers a little, then lift the nose enough to drain the water off..

How well are these retracting? Without tension I imagine they roll loosely. Intuitively the roller spring tension should be adjustable.

Look up the manual for your particular awning for specifics. The manufacturer website should have them or at least a number to customer service.
They are just like regular awnings, you need to know how to disassemble w/o hurting yourself (lock tension mechanism), then retension to specifications. Too much and the mountings tend to pull out, not enough and they will not function correctly.
Or do like I did, and just remove the PITA contraptions

Thanks NMWilcat,

I bought the unit used and got no documentation. I will try to find what the brand is.

They all will pool water at some point. The higher it is mounted on the trailer the better. Adjustment depends on the specific topper. How much it can be adjusted is a finite mount between too little and really pooling/flapping in the wind and too much causing issues with slide operation. Best to check out carefully before proceeding.
