Slide tore up floor
Brought the living room slide in and it proceeded to tear the vinyl flooring beginning at the front of the slide's rear edge.
I can't see what caused this until I remove the sofa and take up the carpeting. However, it appears to be hitting the floor with a small point, as if a nail had worked through.
I'm betting I'm not the first owner to experience this, right? What happened? Why, after 4 years of flawless operation, did my slide mangle my floor?

It could be a nail but my bet would be something was dropped on the floor and got under the slide. I think I would run the slide out at least part way (which usually allows for some up and down movement of the box) and then using something like a coat hanger with a hook on the end fish back under that part of the slide to see if something is under there. Pulling the couch and pulling up the carpet will only expose the top of the slide box floor.

The more I thought about it, I came to the same conclusion. The trailer is on a storage lot, but the next time I go check on it I'll take along a coat hanger and go fishing.
Now I need to get a piece of the original flooring to cut a paste a patch.

closet maybe? The same floor in mine is in the outside storage. Could remove and put something else back in there.

I have the same issue. Turns out there was a block of wood (meant as the part that slides on the vinyl floor), which was fastened under the slide with a wood screw. Somehow, this worked fine for a few months and then it didn’t. Ripped the vinyl floor.
I had my dealer order new flooring, which I received, but I’m skeptical  about the durability of a ‘patch’ in the kitchen floor area.

Update: Nothing caught under the slide. The culprit IS the slide. The rear corner of the box is 3/4" lower than the front corner and drags across the floor once it is halfway in.
It will be easy to repair the floor, but how the hell did the slide box get all catty-wumpus? And… how to fix?

Wow 3/4 on an inch is allot. Slides don't normally come in level they tilt so the actual difference may be somewhat less. depending on the slide, you may have adjustments at the outer end of the rails. Remember what you do to one side effects the other side. On mine I used a floor jack and wood under the slide floor to support it when I lifted the box a little and made small adjustments 1/4 inch at a time until I got it right

On my slide where the rails attach to the outer portion of the box box underneath the floor there are clamping bolts and a vertical adjusting bolt on each side with locking nut.

We have that type of floor. Same type of thing happened but much more. Dealer got the flooring for us and cut a patch. Looks great.

I'm bumping this thread.
I contacted the dealer and she contacted Forest River. Of course FR has no record of the lot and batch of that flooring, so I'll have to find something close.
As to cause: a self-tapping screw backed out enough to cause the damage. I removed it and will put a wood screw in its place, glued in.

Same happened to us this weekend. We missed a little pebble when cleaning before closing it up. The pebble got stuck between the floor and slide when opening. I used wood glue to repair and looks decent. Hope it holds up under foot traffic. I'm still very bummed that it happened and am sure it will happen again because it doesn't take much to tear the flooring.

If Forest River does not have the floor material you can fond a piece under a cabinet or in the storage area. Look around, you will most likely find enough to do the patch.

Happened to me also. Pebble got caught and tore the floor. I carry glue with me, and glued it down. Barely noticeable. We also have a ru in the hall, so that covers it.

Our floor tore as well. Forest River denied my claim. I didn't find anything on the slide or floor to cause it.

Same thing happened to us. Pebble was stuck under the slide and tore the flooring. I have some PVC Pipe glue in a compartment and used that to glue it back down. Barely noticeable now, and we keep a rug in the hall, which also covers it.

My floor also was torn up. Culprit was the sofa. Brand new Rig. I guess sittin a few times on the sofa caused it to settle on one side. Had to remove bolt (which is just swimming in the floorboard) and shim sofa up about 1/4 inch. Now sofa clears flooring. Contacted FR and they recommended a vinyl repair company to have it fixed. Came to my house to fix floor costing $500 out of my pocket. Luckily FR reimburse me under warranty. Noticed that sofa is sinking again. will have to shim it even higher.
