Slideout Bars?

I have a 2010 Puma 31BHSS and I was wondering if I should be using slideout bars on my slideouts while I am traveling.I have not been using any and the reason I ask is a friend of mine just purchased a 2011 Flagstaff 30FK V nose and it came with slideout bars....

There was some talk of slideout bars on another thread... Might want to search. But it seems that if your camper didn't come with the bars they aren't necessary. Perhaps due to design, etc. I have a Salem TT with a rather large slide and no bars were provided or mentioned.

do a search on the subject, there's been tons of discussions about them.
bottom line- some do and some don't.
personally, i only put them in on longer trips, especially if i driving through mountains.

it's a fail-safe system in case the slide hardware fail while driving.

They are good if you need to pry off your slide fascia. Install them, forget about them, run the slide room out. Works every time.

we got our 2011 Rockwood 2604 and were given 2 bars. When I looked at them and the benefits vs risks.....and I thought the same thing you mentioned above!!!!!

X2...our Windjammer came with the bars too, and even our PDI technician said the same thing on our walkthru. There aren't needed and if forgotten about, they can potentially do alot of damage. No thanks.

I agree with above. Bars were provided with our TT. I have never used them. It isn't a matter of "if" I will forget to take them out but "when"! I know how I am. Some one will start talking to me during set up, I'll get out of routine, and crunch..... trip ruined. Just my $.35 (inflation you know )

The service manager where we bought our Flagstaff told us not to use it.
