Can anyone tell us how the slides are put together and what they are made of? We have a 2013 Columbus 320 and it looks and feels like the slide has wood then the rubber membrane on the top of the slide . The bedroom slide is rough on the edge in the middle of that edge and had made it rough with two small holes in the rubber. Our rv has been sitting under a carport for about a year and just noticed this.

I thought they were aluminum framed sandwich construction.
A picture of your concern would help a lot.

Thanks. What it is showing is the bedroom slide along the edge has these small bumps and a couple of them have tiny holes so something is punching up through the membrane.

That is a rough saw 3/16 plywood edge poking that membrane.

The sandwich side wall (as I understand it) from inside to outside:

3/16 inch fabric/wallpaper covered marine grade plywood panel
1 1/2 inches of Styrofoam/aluminum tubing frame
3/16 inch marine grade plywood panel
1/16 inch Filon Fiberglass panel

All layers bonded together with marine grade adhesive.

IMO, you need to cover that with a strip of Eternabond Tape for the entire compromised edge. Remove the metal hold down strip and over lap the tape enough to have the edge covered by the metal and at least 2 inches of tape on the roof. Re-install the metal strip.

Thanks Herk. Dealer and CW both told us it would be probably major job and cost several thousands and we want to camp (sitting nice last August) and we thought there wold be a quicker cheaper better fix. We ill do this. Thanks again. Ervin and Jeane Ann

You have a 2012 camper so THAT might still be covered by the Filon warranty.
You would have to convince the company that it is not impact damage.

If it is G-III it is warranted parts and labor for 2 years.

Sorry I did not understand the issue, but herk came to the rescue, as he often does!
When they cut the plywood for this application, there is always one rough edge and one smooth one. Why wouldn't they put the smooth edge on top so this wouldn't happen? Or, better yet, quickly sand the edge?
Could it be that the factory simply doesn't care enough? Seems to be the case more often that not.
As for your spider cracks in the fibreglass, there could be something underneath pushing out. But quite often it just tends to do that. Unfortunately, there is no easy fix.

Further to herk's suggestion, I would first tap down all of the sharp wood splinters that are trying to poke through the rubber roofing, before you apply the eternabond. If left, they might work their way through the repair as well.

Thanks again Herk but actually we have a 2013. We discovered this and dealer had to get it corrected with lien holder and I had to correct with insurance company.

Eternabond Tape/ would also check the position of the slide-out to the opening.
In other words the slide could be out of adjustment. Rubbing too hard in that area.
Hard to tell from the pics but it looks like wipers or seal could be rubbing hard from the edge to few inches in. If the wood is rough in that area you might want to get it smooth out or it will continue to wear.
