Slides in Palomino HS2911 Truck Camper

We have one of these campers that have the slides on both sides. They seem to be somewhat "temperamental" in that if the camper is on the jacks and not perfectly level, the slides will bind on one side. Usually, we can make some slight adjustments on the jacks and solve the problem. However, we just got back from a weekend trip, and we had problems. We couldn't get the kitchen slide to go at all (bound at the start). We tried for about 45 minutes, and finally gave up, since it's usable that way. The next day we tried again, and this time while the wife hit the button, I pushed on it, and we were able to extend it about 1/2 way.

So, a couple of questions. First, is "helping" the slide open or close by pushing on the room going to hurt anything?

Second, does anyone know where the manual override for it is? I've done some reading here, and it appears that we have the Schwintek slides. According to the manual, it's supposed to be somewhere around the batteries, but the only thing there is the water pump and the controller for the electric jacks.
