Underside of slideout

I have a 2014 FR Surveyor 240SP that I bought last spring from original owner. I recently noticed that the underside of the slide has damage to the black material that is on the underside. The damage is just on one side of the slide and is down to bare wood. Anyone have experience repairing this type of thing. I've checked various forums and have seen reference to everything from Teflon sheets, sheet metal, Darco fabric/tape, etc. I spoke to someone from our local FR dealer and he suggested that the roller on that side of the slide might need adjusting. If so, that would prevent the damage from getting worse, but I also want to repair what damage is already there.
