Water Staying on slide out when retracting

Silly question
We were dry all weekend however AC runoff was dripping onto slide. Didn't think much of it so when we packed up to go we brought slide in and alot of water stayed on slide and splashed all over inside unit. I'm curious is this normal or should seals act as a squeegee and push water off slide when bringing the slide back in ?

Do you have gutters on your trailer? They should catch most of the water.

This happens to us occasionally but NOT from the a/c. The gutter should route the a/c runoff to a spout, NOT your slideout roof. I would check the gutters first.

When it rains we get water on the slides and no, the seals don't take off all the water. At least not on any rig I have ever had. So we either raise/lower the front until the water runs off, or I get up there and sweep it off with a broom. Otherwise you will get a bath when you button things up

The rain gutter spout on the front driver side directs the water to the top of the bedroom slide! Nice design. We do have slide covers so the slide top is dry when we pull it in.

Even with gutters I get a little water on the slides, I always sweep our slides before pulling them in.

Our ac water drains out the gutters so not an issue but yes rainwater is an issue when pulling in the slides.

With Slide Toppers we have no water on the slide at all. Second trailer with slide toppers and I highly recommend them.

Gutter had a small leak in it. We have had some slide issues with water previously so just wanted to make sure this was "normal ".

The gutter on both sides of the unit is two pieces with caulk in the seam. The caulk on ours was just gooped on...making a dam in our gutter towards the "low" side. Even when level, you're always low in one corner or another. I noticed it leaking through on my awning side....check it out on yours. Betcha that's the problem.

Water on slide out

If you suspect water is on the roof of slide out, before hooking to your tow
vehicle raise the front of your unit with the front jack or landing gear about six inches higher than the rear. The will cause the water to run off the back of your slide out before closing the slide out. I have slide out awnings
but sometimes the water will pool on the largest slide out, this is how I remove the water sometimes.

So agree that slide toppers are the way to go. No more leaves, pine needles or water.

I was told that the slide covers make the rv hotter! True?

This is our first rv with them but I don't see how they would make it hotter. I don't see any temperature difference. Then again I do not live in the south.

The slide seals do not always get all the water off the slide roof. Some amount of water is generally normal.

Not at all, light colored toppers here so if anything reflect heat.

My theory is 'old bones take longer to heal' so we are not climbing ladders any longer. Using a broom or blower is no longer even considered. The toppers keep the slide from accumulating water, leaves, twigs, and etc. Even young bones do not heal overnight.

You should have some type of squeegee/seal at the top. Although probably not adjustable, most slides have jacking screws to raise sliders. Visual verification of your top seal is a must before attempting any adjustments.

I often put a slight risee in the RV. This may also be helpful to you.
