I certainly agree but have already checked the connections at the switch. They were well-connected but I disconnected/reconnected to be sure. Had no effect.

It's probably the contacts inside the switch burnt, so they aren't making a good connection.

There's no visible problem at the contacts but it's definitely a problem either with the switch, wiring between switch and motor, or grounding. At least it's not the motor and at least it opens/closes fine with the remote!


Will get an electrician out there in the coming weeks to look at it.

Jumper the wires on the switch and see if it works. You can probably replace the switch if needed.

I determined the voltage across the switch drops from about 13V to about 5V whenever I engage the switch. Would this indicate a bad switch? Slide opens fine using the remote.

The voltage across the switch should drop to 0 when you engage the switch.
So yeah that switch is no bueno.
