Does anyone know which D-seal is appropriate for the Windjammer slides (specifically the 3001W)? I have several on the sides of my 2015 slides that are already falling apart. Unfortunately, the D-seal across the top of the large slide is falling apart, too. The seals all seem to be fastened with glue and staples. At least, they have large numbers of staples through the flat side of the seal. The seal on the top ALSO has a very large bead of some sort of sealant that looks like silicone.
The dealer said that the seals are NOT covered under my extended warranty. The also estimated over $1100 to replace the seals... I don't know WHY the seals would be stapled since they seem to be very fragile and require frequent replacement. I guess I will have to replace them myself, since I don't have over $1000 to throw at the dealer.
Is there a better system (than stapling the seals down) that would allow easier replacement of the failing foam components in the future? It is going to take forever to pull the staples, then clean the edges, and finally apply the new seals. It would seem that some sort of permanent base, with slide-in seals, would be a better idea than narrow-crown staples through the seals. What about the top edge? Could the same sort of slide in system be used, with the sealant applied on the top edge of the rigid seal frame?
I have a covered workshop, so I can replace the seals inside without worrying about the weather. Suggestions on how to approach the task? A recommendation for a brand/source of seal? Type of cleaner to remove goo from the old seals?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
