19 CL40

Just brought home our new 2019 CL40 and ran into an issue. We have to whirlpool residential fridge with ice maker and filtered water dispenser inside the door but neither of them are getting water. I dont want to unscrew and pull put the fridge if I dont have to but I called my dealer and was told by a different salesperson that "oh yeah there is probably no plumbing for water to the fridge".. wtf ? That cant be right if they advertise the ice maker right ? Also during our walk through we were told the refer inverter breaker did not need to be on if we were on shore power but the fridge doesnt run unless I flip that breaker on is that normal? Thank you !

When you say inverter breaker is that in the actual service box, or just a remote switch? If you have any drawers or cabinets next to the fridge, look behind them for a shutoff for the water supply. Be aware that it may be a unique style as ours is that is push/pull operation.

Also look under the slide for the push pull valve. We have a different model forest river but that is where they put ours.

Check for a line with a push/pull valve behind, or near, the drivers side trailer tires.

Regarding the inverter, on mine when plugged in, the inverter switch can be off, but the refrigerator/inverter circuit breaker must be on.

During the walk through the tech told us that the breaker in the panel was for the inverter so that the fridge could run off 12v. So when I got the trailer home that breaker was off and the fridge was dead, I turned the breaker on and the fridge works fine. Pretty sure the tech was just confused

Wow, that was some walkthrough you had!

Anyway, as others have said, anytime you turn the breaker in the panel off, that frig is going to stop know matter whether the inverter is on or off. The purpose of that breaker is to protect the circuit that feeds the frig. so if you turn it off it breaks the power line that feeds the frig and it stops.

The inverter is there to power the frig when you disconnect from shore power and tow your unit. It uses the dc power from your batteries and converts it to 120 volts ac feeding that power through the breaker to the frig.

It is recommended to turn the switch on the inverter (not the breaker) off when connected to shore power. This extends battery life and the life of the inverter. You don’t need them when connected to shore power. However, you must remember to turn the inverter back on when you disconnect shore power and begin to tow your unit if you want the frig to stay on.

While you are towing, the tow vehicle will continue to recharge your batteries while you drive. If you stop for a night and there is no shore power is available, the batteries will keep the frig going even without the truck running until they are depleted. The amount of time they will keep the frig on varies from frig to frig and depends on available battery storage. Overnight should be no problem and even longer just keep your eye on your battery status indicator in your monitor panel.

Hope this helps

Happy camping!!

Thank you, that makes more sense. Now I just have to find the inverter switch to turn. It off I guess.

There is a push button switch right on the inverter. The inverter is about 10 by 16 inches and about 4 inches tall. It generally has a red/orange front with a display that reads the output voltage. Some have a remote switch also, but I am thinking yours may not.

One thing you are all forgetting. If you are hook to shore power and turn it off, and you go out for the day, and power goes out to camper for what ever reason, you frig will not work. I am full time, so mine it on 24/7. If you are camping, I would turn it on when you load frig, and off after you unload at end of trip. Just my 2 cents.

If the breaker is off, and it is in the main panel, the inverter will power the reefer if the inverter is turned on. However, shore power will never reach the reefer with the breaker off.
