2018 Cedar Creek Champagne Problems

I bought this RV new paid cash. 105,000 later. I have continued to dump money. I have had it out 5 times. The bedroom floor slide is rotting out, the black tank valve had to be replaced, the slide awning torqued and twisted the main slide out bent the bar had to be replaced. No screws in the slide to but there are holes. Missing 1 fender square tube to support fender. Screws fall out of body constantly. Fireplace fell out had to get new cord and screws there were two on each side. Shower drain not connected, water heater had a small crack 1,000 to replace, awning are already showing holes and wear and have rarely been used. Slide trim indoors fell off the first time I moved it home. Screws fell out of the cabinet, drawer under stove face plate fell off. Bathroom door wont stay on. Bathroom drawer lost all bearings wont stay shut have to replace slide. I will never buy another! Dave's RV in Claremore, Ok is useless. Everything we sent it in for has come back not working or half assed. They said to me "these things are poorly made they just throw them together" I was like then why did you sell it to me? Really you don't stand behind your product?oh but it's a 4cseason trailer till your pipes freeze and your water heater ruptures!

You should think about taking it to Amish Family RV in indiana and have Orvan go over your rig. Maybe he can get it put thru warranty and bring your receipts for what you paid out of pocket, the cedar creek plant is only 2 miles down the road, and maybe you could get reimbursed. You could speak to Morgan Underwood at cedar creek. She is great and helped me with my warranty work at Orvans.

Grammie, is this the same trailer that you were trying to sell last September? The one that you have lived in for 2 1/2 years?

Yes, looks like the same trailer. The slide rot is water, something was leaking and this is where a bed slide rots.

Definitely, definitely take it to Orvan at Amish Family RV in Topeka, IN. Like said above his shop is only 2 miles from CC factory. When you call most likely you will be talking to Orvan's daughter Jolisa to schedule an appointment. The sooner you call the sooner you get in as he is always booked. He will find problems that you may not even be aware of too.

Generally he can do most repairs in a day or two unlike your dealer taking a month or two and still not correct everything. Understand Orvan used to work for CC building these units for 17 years. He has a very capable crew that will get you in and out with issues corrected correctly. At most it would take a week.

Orvan did 36 warranty issues and 18 enhancements for me last November and was very pleased with his work. Of course I had to pay for the 18 items but not the 36 warranty issues. I was scheduled to take it back about 3rd week of March, but because of Covid 19 have rescheduled for 3rd week of June.

Remember these 5th wheels pretty much shake apart going down the road, not all due to workmanship but mostly due to the roads we have to contend to. I initially had to cabinet doors over my sofa fall apart on 3 trip. Dealer replaced them with new ones and those fell apart driving 20 miles home. Since Orvan repaired them and 2500 miles later they are still together.

The bedroom floor rot (I believe) is a known issue when the bottom outside trim of the slide isn't sealed. Water seeps in and rots out the flooring because you are unaware it's happening. It was one of the first things Orvan checked out on my unit when he first went through it.

All dealers I have heard about are not as capable of doing extensive repairs as is Orvan. My dealer had my unit for 2 months to do about a half dozen repairs and couldn't complete them all before I had to get it to go to Goshen rally whereas Orvan took a week to all 52 items on my list. Some things he did were to replace the front cap and install a new one correctly, add a step from living area to bedroom, move kitchen island so slide didn't hit it, cabinet doors repaired, replaced bedroom slide cylinder, corrected roof where bunched up over radius on side, plus a lot more.

Call Orvan Monday 6-2 CDT at (260) 593-0951 first thing. It will be well worth your time and you won't be disappointed with Orvan's work. Good luck, let us know how things go for you.

I will agree with all the post about trying to get your unit to Orvan, we just had ours in for a checkup and did expect in to find things needing attention and we are very glad we did. Because of the Covid thing he does have some openings as some folks have had to delay their visit so if you have time give him a chance, you will not be disappointed.

dblr, thought you were a Shipshewana RV fan? Did you go in for a reason or just have them go thru everything? Would you recommend the service? Cost? Thanks.

Rusty, yes still a fan of the service shop at Shipsewanna I was trying to get into the factory but with Covid they can not take units in just yet, Jeff recommended Orvan and I know they do great work there so I was able to get a spot. Also Ryan said he has learned a lot from Orvan so if possible go to the teacher not the student I would use either shop. Orvan's re-caulked the entire unit and inspected the roof and re-sealed where needed, checked all seals and repaired where needed, fixed our bedframe that was broken so not to jam up when slides moves, adjusted both awnings and repaired the slide awning as it was starting to separate, checked and adjusted all slides, all in all was a 4 page list of items at a cost around $1,800. This is our 4th season with this unit and felt it was due for a check up. His shop rate is $110 a hour, hope this helps

When we took our 33IK in a couple years back he replaced our bedroom slide floor. I mentioned there was an issue with one of our living room slides and the dealer removed the slide to replace it. He asked me why they removed the slide, that it can be done without doing that. I did not witness him replacing our bedroom slide but from his comments I assumed he did not.

I also highly recommend Orvan...

My Cedar Creek was well made, my caps faded but that was not the factory’s fault. My Creek was very well made plus the factory was always there for me. I ordered a Wildcard Sterling from the factory and it had problems. Plus Orvan has fixed the problems I have caused.
