At-a-boy fpr Progressive industries EMS and watch out for WEN generators

This is my setup. Just bought them last week. Cheap units, have the ability to parallel, can use elsewhere, quiet as the expensive brands, I can lift into the bed by myself and should run both A/C's.

$1223.00 for both including the parallel kit...otd.[/QUOTE]

CAUTION!!!!!!!

I recently purchased these generators and THANKS TO my Progressive industries EMS I discovered that the Chinese factory worker who wired my generators and the Parallel kit wired the L5-30 recepticals with reverse polarity. As soon as I attempted to power my camper through this particular plug the EMS shut off the power and produced an error code.

Plugs wired backwards were these:

I contacted the local distributor I purchased from and informed them of the problem. They looked into it at their end and called me back thanking me for discovering this. They pulled several generators out of their stock and found the same problem with them.

They offered to correct the blunder ASAP at their center but I opted to open the panel and correct it myself. 1/2 hour later I had correctly wired generators........ Yay China!

They should at least give you a small gift card for the info.

Another reason for anyone thinking they do not need a PI EMS.
Thanks for the info.

Good catch. Whoa, what is your bed liner made out of? My take says it looks like clean indoor-outdoor. What is it?

Love the bed rugs, I've had them in my last 2 trucks. They were under camper shells though, I always wondered how they would hold up out in the elements getting wet and then drying back out.

99% of the time my truck bed is covered by the toneau so I cannot actually say how the BedRug would stand up to the elements and regular pickup type loads.

With the light weight Andersen Hitch my truck bed transforms to this:

In about 5 minutes.

This original post by DJNCJ was very informative and I assume many on a tight budget will benefit from the alternative. I'm just also glad that he had the knowledge to be able to identify the problem. Not sure I would have faired as well.

All that is to explain why I spent the extra when I purchased my two Honda 2000 watt generators. I would be interested in hearing back after a year of use with a review of just how they did.

I'll certainly report back on their performance!

While not an electrician, There is no chance I would not have thought to check continuity on my own. I am so glad I heeded the advice of others to get an EMS. Once it found the problem it was fairly easy to fix. I am only left to imagine the sort of trouble we would have been in had the EMS not been in place to protect us...

I will never be without one again.

The price of the Wen inverter generators was comparitivley so low that I was compelled to buy. The money I didn't spend on generators went towards purchasing a disc brake system for my trailer.

I just bought (2) WEN 2000W for $380 each @ Woot.com & the connection kit on Amazon. Before plugging them into my TT I checked them with a meter AND my Progressive EMS. All good.

The WENs engine is a clone of the Yamaha & probably made in the same Chinese shop as the Yamahas with only a few changes to prevent patent infringement... Mine purr like kittens & appear to be very high quality.

We all enjoy cheap goods from China, etc. otherwise our standard of living would be much lower...

All Yamaha components are manufactured in Japan as always. There is some outsourcing to China for final assembly though.
