Bike-rack suggestions.

We have a 2013 Silverback 29RE and are looking for bike-rack suggestions? We will be carrying 2 bikes. Looking for rack manufactures/welding suggestion. Anyone consider racks on the roof of the tow vehicle? Thanks for your time.

I used a Hollywood fold up for recumbents on the back of my 36CKTS but I had the
2" receiver that has been discontinued.
I also welded a shim to the top of bar to eliminate bounce and used an
anti rattle locking pin. With the bikes off, it doubles as a great towel drying rack.

A roof rack is probably your best bet. I use a Yakima system, but over the truck bed instead of the roof.

We see several folks out there attaching the bikes to their ladder, any thoughts regarding this?
Right now the best option for our fifth wheel setup seems to be on the roof of our Ram.
Thank you!

My thoughts are that are that something will break eventually.

X2. I really don't like the idea (though I'm sure folks have done it for thousands of miles).

Anything on the ladder or rear bumper other than the spare tire voids the warranty of our 8289. That being said the roof rack for the TV is the best option

I have a Yakima rack on the roof of the truck, it has served me well for some time now. I have no plans to change from this setup.

I picked this rack up last summer. The main assembly is steel with aluminum wings. The bikes hang from their wheels, not the frame. And it is easily convertible for 2 or 4 bikes. Also, a locking bolt that prevents any play in the reciever comes standard. Once you strap the bikes in and figure out how to velcro them together, there is no movement of any kind.

5th wheel

I have set up a receiver hitch mounted to the pin box. Slide a standard bick rack right into it.

I have front hitch on the truck and a regular bike rack that you use with a 2" receiver. No problem on this or last truck.

One point fo clarification...I only use my Sportwing rack in my truck or Tahoe. As per all the discussions on FRF, think twice about hanging bikes off your back bumper unless you have a factory installed rack. Also, if Silverback has a Lippert frame, they have racks designed for their frames on their website. (Tailgateā„¢ Storage Systems - Tailgate Storage Systems)

Thank you!

If your young 6'2" with big muscles, yea a roof rack on the Ram will work.

I found out I didn't fit above description at 68.

I carried two adult 5 speed bikes on top of my truck with a Thule bike rack.
I used a step ladder to get bikes on and off right up to the day the bike, ladder, and me wound up on the ground. I'm the only thing that got hurt!

Now I can keep both feet on the ground loading and unloading.
