Cedar Creek 30RL

I have a Forest River Wildcat Sterling 32RL that I have had nothing but bad luck with, I think it was made on Monday by a bunch of drunks. I am looking at a 30RL, I have had three campers and two have been good. Over all what would you say about the CC, anything I should ask for in options. The camper will be factory ordered, I like thermal pane windows, also the level up and the Trump mattress, how about the cord reel? I plan to put a bedroom A/C in not when I order it, been looking at the Dometic Penguin 11000 btu or a Coleman Mach 1 11000 btu

When we order our CC, we're getting the cord reel. Why? Because it'll be a 50 amp cord, thicker and heavier than our 30 amp. We're also putting in the residential fridge. DW wants the conv micro. So far as the exterior goes, we're going with the custom paint because the clear coat goes over the decals too. Look into the re-bond carpet pad.

I have the cord reel and realyy do like it. It makes storing 50 amp cord a breeze and is super easy to use. The only draw back is that it does take up some space but is still worth it.

I had a similar experience with my 2008 RKBS Wildcat. Problems from day one and it got to the point that RVing wasn't fun anymore. Since trading for our CC Silverback last year my wife and I are having a great time camping and traveling again.

I am going to buy the 30RL, we had one to many little problems with the Wildcat this weekend, we had already made our minds up to keep the wildcat 32RL and then one more little problem showed up today and now we will get the 30RL. I kinda of wanted Thermal Pane windows but I have to order that camper and it would be 3 months and have a trip planned to Yellowstone before then, would you wait? This camper has the cord reel and the conv mirco and Explorer Package,it has the Trump mattress, slide room toppers, leather Lazy-boy, level-up,2nd A/C but what I really want to know will it pull good with my 2012 Silverado 3500HD? Will I be able to keep the truck in cruise? I just can't ride with my foot on the fuel pedal all the time, I have an old foot, the rest of me is 25 but I have a 67 year old foot.

Maybe. Engine, gear ratio(s) terrain and wind are all important factors. I have the same foot problem as you. I found that keeping the speed between 62 & 65 allows
me to use cruise (in tow mode) most of the time. However, I have a 400hp diesel and lots of torque with a 3.73:1 rear axle ratio and a 6 speed trans. and rear axle drive. I'm also hauling 16k lbs. With that said, I avg. 12mpg.

Well I pulled the trigger today and went with the 30RL, I was told by the tech at Tom Johnson that I would have to take 32RL back and leave it for at least a week or longer. I am tired of camping at the dealer. DW and I hope the CC will be a better camper anyway I will find out if its my truck thats the problem. I just could not take the chance that something else would go wrong with camper, I still think there is something wrong with the frame on my camper, after next Thursday it will be someone else is problem. I still think there is something wrong with the A/C on the camper. I want to put a 40in TV in the camper, well it has a 40in but I want a 3D TV, oh well xmas will be here soon. I think I might miss the dual pane windows, I hope this is the last camper that I buy.

I hope your new Cedar Creek is as good as our Silverback. We bought our 29RL in March 2012 and after a few camping trips we took it back to the dealer for a couple of minor issues. Since then our travels and camping trips have been problem free. RVing is fun again. Take it from a former Wildcat owner, you made the right decision.

I pulled the CC home and it did pull good with the 3500, only thing I have found wrong is the frige, it makes a whinning noise. We are going to Yellowstone on June the 13, 4 days at West Yellowstone and 8 days at Fishing Bridge, I wanted to go last year but something came up and in a way I am glad it did with all the problems we had with the Wildcat, it would not have been a fun trip. I was thinking about staying at Walmart some but in the end we will stay at campgrounds. It may be some trouble around the 4th of July but I think we can find something

Be sure to keep us updated on your adventures with your new CC, especially the trip to Yellowstone. We're headed there in August and will be staying at Grizzly RV park in West Yellowstone.

We're not going to Yellowstone, we're going to JELLYSTONE, Montrose, CO. That's where Yogi and Boo Boo live - no joke. We're taking our granddaughters. We pick up our CC following that trip - in time for Goshen - yessssssss!

I have four days at Grizzly rv park starting the 19 of June, I have heard a lot of great reviews on Grizzly. I plan to stay in Canyon park for four days and Fishing Bridge for four days, made the revseration last June. So far the 30RL is great. A few little things, when I get back from trip I will take camper to CW, they told me they could service FR products and its only 50 miles, Tom Johnson is 300 miles. My 30RL came prewired with Winegard Trav'ler I wonder how hard it is to install. I have a Tailgater and it works pretty good, just a pain to set up sometime and I have to take it down at night, it will walk away.

My tow vehicle is a 2013 Chevy Silverado 3500HD diesel dually. Pulls my 34RLSA like a dream! I set my cruise control at the speed I want (62-68mph), put the Allison tranny in D, and let 'er go. So far this has been mostly on level interstate highways, although it works very well in the rolling hils too. Have not pulled in the mountains yet, but most old-timers say just to let the Allison do its thing.

You've got a great plan for seeing Yellowstone and you will have time to see all the major attractions of the park without feeling rushed. When you visit Old Faithful, take the time to walk into the lobby of the Inn and look up to the Crow's Nest. The Inn is almost as interesting as the natural features of the park.

For our tailgater I carried a lightweight length of chain and attached one end to the tailgater and the other to a tree or my camper. No one ever bothered it.

Hope you have a great camping season.
