Cedar Creek 34RE water inside basement door

When I open the basement door on the entrance side of the FW, I am finding a puddle of water. This has been after a rain storm. I have looked for an entry point for the water but have not found any. I have checked the screws that hold the lock in the door & tightened them, only needed 1/2 turn each. Does anybody have any other ideas.

Mine does the same thing in heavy rain. It is the seal between the door and the frame. The door is slightly warped and does not seal against the frame.

Thanks for that info ROCCO52. How did you fix the problem? Did you install a new gasket?

It is on my to-do list for spring. I have not figured out the best way to do it yet. Maybe replacing the door seal with a thicker one is the answer. You can test yours using the old "Dollar Bill" test. Close one in the door in several spots until you find the loose spot.

BTW, if your exterior doors do NOT have weep holes on the bottom edge drill them now. They will rust out from the inside and you will pay dearly for new doors.

Look up......see the "gutter", if you can call it that? Mine has a seam, because they don't make that gutter material 40' long. At that seam, it was caulked UNDER the seam, but you could stick your finger in the hold behind it. Blowing rain, I leaked like crazy. Lots of geocell caulk later, I'm good.

Mine has done the same thing. I replaced the seal with a thicker seal so far so good.I went to an auto parts store but they did not stock any weather stripping. So, I went to Home Depot and purchased the seal material there. It is a automotive style seal material and compress will around the door.

One of my doors was also leaking after heavy rain. New gasket did not change anything on mine. Tightened screws on slam latch hardware and hasn't leaked since. Tightening latches actually pulled door closer to camper and gasket.

my brand new Forester does the same thing, I think that is why they installed those "quick drain valves" in the lower cabinets.

Added a hardware store gasket along the inside edge on my door. Let it slightly overlap the edge. No more problems. Also make sure your door is centered in the opening.
