Cedar Creek Champagne
OK, there are way too many choices out there .
The wife and I are looking at fivers to upgrade to this fall, and we really like the Montana and the Pinnacle, and then, she saw a youtube video on the Ceder Creek 38EL. Does anyone own one of these that can provide some real world feedback? As of now, we haven't seen any in any CG's so, we can't talk to the owners. We're looking for the good the bad and the ugly. We currently own a FR PT Tracer 3200bht

I have a Champagne... love it, no issues. The quality in my opinion is excellent. All I would have liked is a more comprehensive walk thru.

I have one. Got it 9/6/16. Wife and I are fulltimers and love it. It's has so much room around the king bed that it is easy to make the bed and use the shelf on the nightstands. The large bathroom is great. Not to mention the 60 inch led tv.
We looked at just about everything out there in this price range. This one was hands down the best, in our opinion.
The quality is great. There are standard items on it that where options on the others.

We have the CC Champagne with full body paint, heat pump, extra awning on slide, solar panels. We get a lot of attention when we enter most parks. Purchased it March 2016, we had a few issues namely the day shades on the windows, the fireplace was not installed level and one of the contacts to hold it in place was defective resulting in the fireplace having to be completely rebuilt. Works fine now. Yes I would purchase the same again. We spend about 8 months in it and the comfort level is perfect. We love it.

We own one, full time since late May. A few hiccups, but love the rig! Most issues were with selling dealer.

Was told by a dealer that the Champagne has the same type of cabinets as the Silverback which, in his opinion, is actually not quite the same quality as the Hathaway cabinets. About a week later I contacted Cedar Creek to ask some pre-purchase questions regarding a Hathaway and at the very end of the conversation I brought up the what the dealer had told me. She confirmed that the Champagne and Silverback use the same cabinets. I, however, didn't ask her about them being of a different quality than the Hathaway.

Of the three, I would rule out the Pinnacle right away. It uses the less expensive Schwintec slide mechanisms which have a bad record for reliability. It also uses the less expensive electric Ground Control leveling system which is way slower than the hydraulic Level Up. Jayco products in general have really taken a dive in quality the last few years. Montana is a nice enough unit but I don't like the non-molded rear cap and keystone is not rated very high in customer service. I have a 2016 Cedar Creek Hathaway series. Very similar to a Champagne model except for a couple bells and a whistle or two. Couldn't be any happier with ours. We've spent 140 nights in it so far this year with no major concerns and nothing I couldn't fix myself. Cedar Creek has been excellent to deal with in the few contacts I have had with them.

I have electric slides now, so I'm not that worried about those, as for the jacks,I have electric stabilizers now on my TT and yes they are really really slow, and yes hydros are faster, however, I dealt with hoses breaking, pumps locking, solenoids locking up, etc. on my lowriders throughout the years, and not sure if I want to deal with that with a 16k trailer.

Before buying our Cedar Creek we looked long and hard at a Jayco Pinnacle 5th wheel. I walked away from the Jayco because of the electric stabilizing jacks on the unit and the Schwintec slide mechanism. Why?
To start with the electric stabilizer have individual motors and wiring to each leg. With all of the abusive these trailers see it is very easy to have early onset of wiring faults and corrosion of the contacts. To me it would be a nightmare trying to trouble shoot and resolve these issues. The other issue is the Schwintec slide mechanism which does not have a stellar reputation in the RV world.
I have worked in the world of hydraulics and electronic controls for over 40 years as an engineer. It is far easier to replace a failed hydraulic hose than trouble shoot and fix an elusive electrical issue.

Oh, I agree, replacing a hose, pump, dump, etc. is easier and quicker then troubleshooting an electrical issue by far. We're going to be looking at both more closely and side by side at the upcoming Hershey show and then again at the dealer.

Level-Up hydraulic system isn't like a one off setup on a low rider. They have installed many thousands of these and the hydraulics are nearly trouble free.

We were at the Goshen rally so I took a long look at the new models, both during the factory tour we attended, another factory visit the next day, and the models on display at the fairground.
Some of my impressions: Still like my 37' which is now designated the "Hathaway" with gas/electric fridge and gas cooktop.
The Champagne edition is a beautiful unit but in my mind is set up more for staying put as a park model. I know many will disagree. It comes only with a Whirlpool residential fridge which is notoriously power hungry....one night on a pair of batteries generally. The Fridgedaire or LG would be a better choice (about 1/2 the power usage) but they are not available as a factory option. The gas cooktop can be special ordered but the smooth top induction is standard so there will be no cooking without a generator or shore power. These items, plus the length, make it a bit less amenable to moving about among many campgrounds where many CG do not have the design for a 42' unit, or boondocking without a large generator. It sure is pretty though!!

I have given it a lot of thought and I like my Whirlpool residential refrigerator but on the next camper I'm going back to a gas/electric refrigerator. We are never to far from Walmart or some food store. Sometime next year I want to trade my Cedar Creek for a Cedar Creek Hathaway. As it stands right now it's the 38FBD, I like the half a bath and forty more gallons of black water. I don't like the new steps but maybe I can get the old steps

Our nephew just lost his SOB due to a refrigerator fire. Apparently this is not an uncommon occurance. Luckily everybody was safe. No more gas/elec fridges for him. We have 4-6 volts never had a problem running our Whirlpool residential. We will never go back...

My whirlpool res refrigerator will go days on batteries.
Lots of assumed myths.

There is no way a residential fridge will run for days on batteries unless you are recharging them. Key word is residential. They were never made to bounce down roads.

When we ordered our 34RL, Cedar Creek the Hathaway edition, my wife wanted the RV fridge instead of the residential model. At time of ordering, the RV fridge was a $2,023 option in 2015 for 2016 model trailer. I was too cheap to spring for the RV fridge and instead we got the residential fridge.
We are both extremely happy that we have the residential unit over the RV unit. And now that we have had 2 years experience with the residential model we would never ever go back to an RV fridge.
I just wanted to point out that the RV fridge is not a wash and is a cost price increase over the residential unit. You could buy extra batteries and a solar panel for charging them and still be money ahead.
