Cedar Creek converter wiring question

Can’t find a better place to post, so setting it here in hopes of…

I have a similar problem and need to know if this is normal.

I have a large 5er. I’m putting in an off grid solar system. Doing some preliminary testing and mapping and I found…

When I am suppling PV power to my inverter then to the coach, there is obviously no need to run the converter as it would be stupid to charge the battery from solar just to use that AC power to run the converter to charge the battery.

12vdc into the inverter, 110 vac to the Breaker panel to the converter to charge the battery to power the inverter…

Flipped the breaker off for the converter and when I do, ALL AC power to one slide is gone.

Did someone at the factory mess up and wire the slide wrong or is this for some reason the way it’s is done?

The only way I can get power to the slide is to be plugged into shore power or run my inverter and have the breaker for the inverter turned on.

The 12v side of an inverter could be utilized to connect the output of the solar controller
it will go back to the battery
BUT
make sure you don't set up a system where you may accidentally disconnect solar charging if you have a isolation switch on the inverter

you can use the un-switched side of the inverter disconnect switch
or find a place closer to battery on a bus bar etc...
either way make sure you label the wires and have a disconnect for your solar if it is a medium to large size.

converter.... if you have a separate converter ....
Yes turn it off while using the INverter

if you want to make this automatic there are several methods
a) get a inverter charger all in one unit

b) add a automatic transfer switch for the inverter and rewire the converter so it is only on when the inverter is OFF (easy to do)

We have a 2020 MY 38EFK, our converter is plugged into an outlet on the rear of our mains distribution/fuse unit. When I flick the breaker marked as “converter” it turns mains power off in the bedroom, I don’t think it’s a fault or mistake. I have installed a programmable WiFi plug into that outlet and that now controls the converter when my solar is producing power.

It sounds like there is more than just the converter on that AC circuit.

Yes there are other things being powered by the breaker. As Hitechpete stated, when he flips the breaker marked “Converter”, it also kills AC to the bedroom slide. Mine kills the dining room slide. Since my original post I have crawled into the belly of this beast and mapped out a lot more. I also found that the converter was indeed “Pluged” into a module attached to that breaker so it was doing double duty. Unplugged the converter and left the breaker in the on position, Problem resolved. I haven’t needed the converter lately (mainly lighting and electronics panels) and will soon be eliminating the 12 volt batteries and replacing it with a DC to DC converter (24v to 12V).

My dining room slide was piggybacked to the converter breaker, I added another breaker, moved the slide outlet wire to the new breaker.

All fixed now

I found the dual use of the breaker circuit when I was planning my Off-Grid System

I simply removed the converter from the system. My solar supplies my 24 volt battery bank which supplies the Inverter.

I left the 12 volt system alone for now but will eventually replace the heavy batteries with a DC to DC converter.
