Dead Batteries
We purchased a 2018 35ik Cedar Creeck Silverback. Our batteries are continuously going dead. Is there anyone else out there having this problem? Thnx, Chuck

Going dead how?
When in storage?
While boondocking?
While plugged into shore power?
How are you charging them back up if they continually go dead?
Do you have a battery disconnect and use it?
Have you done any kind of basic tests to the batteries or the charging system? (converter or sometimes an inverter/charger)
Do you own a multimeter?

Plus: Consider that you may be using more power from your batteries than you realize and a) are not sufficiently recharging them; b) have too small a battery bank to begin with.
To emphasize, using a multi-meter (get one if you don't have, you'll always be needing one) start at the Batteries. Check voltage and when plugged into shore power you should have MORE than 13 volts. If not, look at reverse polarity fuses on Converter or check circuit breaker for Converter.
Check battery terminals for clean, solid, connections.
Lastly, battery charging is a long term process. Batteries that are discharged will take 3-6 hours of charging just to get to 90% in many cases. From there it can take several more hours to top off to 100%. Times vary but the point is that charging of batteries can't be done with a one or two hour running of a generator or from the alternator on a Coach or Tow Vehicle.
Just charging until the original equipment battery "meter/LED's" read 100% will leave you with partially charged batteries and over time the batteries will loose much of their capacity.

Will our cc 36 ckts charge the batteries on shore power with battery disconnect in the off position? Or does it matter? Anyone know?

If the disconnect switch is engaged, the batteries won't charge through shore power.

All good information. Check the converter, disconnect usually has to be on to charge the batteries, although everything in the RV will seem to work when on shore power.
Finally, that 4th LED on the charge panel isn't 100%...it indicates a charging voltage, i.e. over 13 volts. I bet it will light with the batteries disconnected as well. If you want a full charge, expect to stay connected to shore power with the batteries on for at least 12 to 24 hours.

Hi Chuck,
We have a 2018 33IK. What I discovered is even with the battery disconnect off there was still small current draws on the battery. I installed a second disconnect directly on the battery terminals to eliminate the problem. An added bonus is this removes power from the level up system so it can’t be tampered with.

you'll have to give us a lot more details to what you mean ....
as in, 'how' are you using your coach and your 'lectricty and 12v devices, whether you are plugged into shore power or are totally using your batteries for EVERYTHING, or what even you 'expect' your batteries to be doing for you.
Batteries are a mystery to many, especially when compared to what we all 'normally' know from our car batteries, which just do their job and we don't have to really worry about them - RV batteries are a very different animal, and 'how' you use them makes a big impact on how they perform and what they can give back to you... they need CONTINUOUS charging, or you'll not be happy.
