Does your Furrion camera actually work?

Has anyone used this model camera from furrion FOS48TA-BL? Their website says it's for rv's over 30 ft.long. It has an antenna on the monitor and camera.

My 2016 Wildcat 295rsx came with the Furrion Backup Camera installed and it works OK for backup and a little ok for montoring the rear while driving. The issue is the angle for being a good backup camera is not the same angle you would want for a rear view driving camera. You can go up the ladder and change it if you like, but I just left it for backup.

What I did see as a need was to have a second camera paired on the receiver for use while hitching. It would be nice to be able to switch to camera 2 while hitching/unhitching.

The simplest solution is to buy the identical camera from Furrion. It took me awhile to find it but here it is:

It's for sale at the furrion.com site but you need to use the search on their site to find item # FCA48TABK-BL which is the sku for a second camera that includes the mounting bracket. The price is $79.95 but if you register for their newsletter, they immediately apply a 10% off discount. It's shipped for free so it ends up costing you $71.95 to your door.

I plan to mount mine somewhere in the truck bed or if can see thru the back window, then I'll mount in the cab. I'll need to figure out where to pull the 12v power.

The 2 camera idea really didn't pan out for me the way I thought it would. Turns out my Forest River provided Furrion is their 'Backup Only' model that has a '12' in the model number. It was fine for backing up so I just kept it to use as a hitching monitor.
The one I needed for use as a pseudo rear view while going down the highway is what Furrion refers to as their 'Observation' camera. It has a '48' in the model number. It's a 1-camera monitor with a stronger processor and a higher resolution monitor.
It uses the exact same mounting brackets as the '12' model so it was a very easy swap out on the already installed mount at the rear of my Wildcat. It's wireless range is much better than the '12' model and I use it full-time-on while motoring down the highway. No dropouts, no freezes and a perfect picture. It's a great camera. The model '12' is ok if all you want is something to view while backing into a camp spot.

I'm considering the "48" model. Is the view on that model wide enough to use it as a combination backup and observation camera?

I bought the Furrion FOS48TA-BL Wireless Observation Backup Camera System. It works great never drops the signal going down the road. Super easy to install because we already had the pre-wiring from the factory. The only downside is the monitor is only 4.3" but you can still see what you need to see. We love it!

If you register at their website I believe they give you a discount. It was either 10% or $25 off or something like that. If you already have a model '12' you can usually get them to swap it out. Some folks have reported a free swap, others simply paid the $100 difference. If you call them on the phone they are very nice and easy to work with.

Recently purchased the Observation camera ( not back up). Works great for both driving down the road and backing. Has distance lines in screen. Tested today, and at 100 feet have a very clear picture. WHY someone would purchase the backup and not the observation for the additional money is beyond me. The backup camera is weaker and will burn out if left on for long periods of time. The observation camera is stronger and designed for long term powering.

How ez is install of the "observation camera" on a 2015 Silverback?
Has the camera shield piece on rear for install. Not sure if any wires in there until I pull it off and look.
Living in Atlanta, seeing out the rear coming and going from the metro area would be VERY HELPFUL when changing lanes is a MUST....

My 2017 Rockwood 8329 came pre wired for the Furrion camera system so I bought the observation camera and installed it. It works great except the image on the monitor is backwards. Looks like cars are passing me on the emergency side of road when they are really passing me on the left. Any ideas?

It's been a while since I installed mine, but I recall a menu item on the monitor that allows rotating/reversing the image to give you the ”mirror image" you'd expect. Select the blue icon and toggle through the choices until you get the image you want.

For those having issues, not trying to insult anyone's intelligence but you have to have your headlights on for it to work. We have a 2016 33ik and it works great

Yes my camera does work but you have to get the model FOS48TA-BL if you want to use it going down the road and also as a backup camera. The other model is really only just for backing up.
