hitch ball height

We plan on visiting more state and federal areas next year.

As such having a tote would be a good plan.

My Ram four wheel drive is relatively tall. The top of the receiver hitch is 22" above the ground.

What is the sort of universal right height of a ball for general trailers and the use of the waste tote.

I have to buy a ball and hitch of some kind. I am clueless as to the correct drop.

As I want to potentially use it for a trailer, these heavy duty ones are expensive. So I only want one.

What drop?

Research ball mounts at eTrailer.com and look at the adjustable units. I prefer the aluminum adjustable with the dial gauge so you can monitor the correct weight on your tounge. Make sure to choose the appropriate receiver size (2", 2 1/2", or 3" if you have a 2017+ Superduty) when you order.
