Hydraulic slides will not come out

Push the slide out button in the inside & outside can hear pump motor running but no slide moves. If you push in slide in button no pump comes on at all.

The first thing I would check is that the batteries are fully charged.

How many batteries do you have?

Well, even if the battery is dead, as long as you're hooked to "shore power" they should still slide out.

I don't have experience doing that. It makes sense, but I have read that the power converter can't put out enough amps to run the hydraulic motor.

It might vary with the motor size and slide-out room size, and thus how many amps are needed.

The troubleshooting info I have read says to have fully charged batteries.

I was more or less under the impression that the battery just completes the circuit once you're plugged in.

Actually, the slides operate off of DC, ie, the battery. The slide hydraulic motor requires a high DC current under the load of the slides. When on shore power the converter charges the battery but at a low current rate. The converter might add a small amount of assist but if the battery is discharged too much the converter can not make up for that.

I am not saying the battery is the problem but it is the first thing to investigate. Make sure your battery is fully charged, then we can go from there..

Hi,

Just a shot in the dark, but is your hydraulic fluid level OK?

I would also check to make sure that the rocker switch in your cabinet for the slides is turned on. There are three rocker switches in the cabinet, the one close to the door entrance is labeled slide on/off, the other switch farthest from the entrance door is labeled slide in/out. The other rocker switch is awning in/out.

When I had my slides worked on this year by my dealer. The mechanic had turned off the slide room control in the cabinet. This was causing me all sorts of trouble with the slides when I raised the hydraulic front legs. The bedroom slide would extend a about 2 inches and I would have to close this slide at the rocker switch near the pump. Just another thought to look for.

as mentioned, check battery and fluid levels.

have you had any service performed on it recently? there is a valve manifold that is used to keep the slideouts from extending but that normally isn't touched unless doing some maintenance involving the slideouts.

Go to the water bay, open door, and make sure all 3 slide valves are open. If not, slides won't work.

If they are open, charge batteries.

If both those are done and it still doesn't work, post again.

If the motor is running, I am probably wrong but when my slides would go out but not retract, it was the Trombetta Reversing Solenoid.

I'm hoping you were successful in operating your slides. Please share your findings so it may benefit the rest of us. Thanks!

Yes I did. The problem was the printed circuit board for the slides. If you switch the 2 wires on the solenoid at the switch outside it would work out. Switch them the other way it will go back in until the part comes in.

any updates?

I wanted to share our experience. our hydraulic slides were not going out and figured out that the slide awning covers failed yes on both hydraulic slides only. all of the rest of slides that are electric are fine. we have a 2019 1/2 37rth which we have a handful of items to be addressed and have a date with the Amish family there in indy. we are working with the factory and the family and both have been great. we have no plans to work with the dealership we bought it from as we feel that the dealership isnt up on how to address thing with quality and timely.
