ice maker/valve

About a year ago I had to replace the water valve in the back of my whirlpool residential refrigerator, due to freezing and breaking. So after I did that, it went for a bit, and I noticed that a lot of excess water would be in the ice tray all frozen together, cubes and water. I figured that I just replaced the valve, that possible the icemaker it self was the problem, so I bought one, replaced that, and the same thing happened. I was sort of clueless on the problem, I purchased another water valve hoping the one I replaced was faulty, but still did it. Any suggestions on the problem, could it have something to so where the water fills the icemaker itself.
2 water valves, 2 icemakers same problem. Thanks

I've had the same problem while traveling, so now I lift the bail to stop making ice while on the road.
