Included power cord 2020 SB

Good evening. We purchased a new Silverback 37MBH which is going to be built in the coming weeks. I’m wondering if anyone has recently purchased a silverback and knows what length 50 amp power cord comes with it. Our Salem was 30 Amps and had what I believed to be around 25 feet of cord? However the plug in was towards the back of the unit and now I believe it’s towards the front of the unit close to the outdoor front storage. Now with having to reach some of the back pedestals I fear I’ll be short when having to reach the back of the site of its 25 feet. The extensions I’ve been looking at just went on sale for a good price so I’m going to pull the trigger now if I’m going to, before getting to a site and needing one. Also do people feel like they need extensions often? Or is there an overall good amount of length to have along? Any and all feedback appreciated

The Silverback should come with a 25 foot power cord. In the four years owning my Cedar Creek I had to borrow an extension cord at 1 site. After that trip I bought a 15 foot extension and have never needed it. I always carry it just in case I ever find "that site"

We have a few campsites that we visit where the power pedestal is at the very back of the site and I've needed an extension cord a time or two. I would suggest getting a 15' or 25' extension cord just in case you run into the situation where the pedestal is at the back of the site.

I also recommend the same for the sewer hose. I carry a 5' and a 20' in the 'fence post carrier' and also a 10' still in the box in the passthru.

I had a good friend Johnny Dyer who's favorite saying was "It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it."

I agree with that saying

Here is something I developed and was mentioned in the Escapees magazine:
If you have a twist-on plug typically used on 5th wheels, go to Lowes or any hardware store and get a Electric clothes dryer cord. It will be about 4 ' long and will have a standard 50 amp male plug and four wires on the other end. From Amazon or CW, buy a 50 amp screw type female plug. This will attach to the shore power male on the side of the trailer (wherever you normally plug in your long primary electric cord.
Now, with this "device" I can use my10 ft 50 amp extension cord which is long enough in 905% of the time, without screwing around with the long primary monster cord. If I need the extension cord in addition to the primary, all I have to do unplug my "adapter" and use the extension as usual

Elec cord

If you have a TT with a perm attached cord that you feed back into the trailer, consider a 15' to 25' extension cord. It has to be the same electrical rating as the perm cord. I did this for my TT as I would first attached the ext cord to the pedestal then to the perm cord. Reason: plenty of cord and it is so much easier to coil up the ext cord, especially if muddy from rain, wipe it off or toss in the back of the truck to clean at home. I hate feeding the perm attached cord back in the trailer when it is stiff from the cold and wet while raining as you pack up.

Our Silverback came with a 25’ power cord. I bought a 15’ extension but have never had cause to use it.

Congrats on the new rig.

Thanks all for the information! I’ve decided to go with a 15 foot cord

https://parts.unitedrv.com/collections/extension-cord

There’s the site for those interested in which I’m looking at. Will hold off a bit in case someone knows of a better deal

You are making the correct decision. I have had to use my extra extension cord more than once.....and sometimes the distance was so short I used the 15' cord instead of the 25' length.
