Inside Moisture !!

Hello again
Sorry to keep buggin' you guys but ...another question.
As I mentioned before our 5er is just new to us. 2006, brought it home in the Fall, parked it and that was that. We did spend some time looking around it and investigating stuff

We have noticed inside the windows along the bottom, inside the track that there is a black "fuzzy" type material. Seems the back of this material is a soft plastic....There is also a screw inside the track.
This material is full of mold. The screw is completely rusted. I don't think we can remove it as I am sure it will just fall apart with the pressure of a screwdriver.

I realize this is from moisture, but how can we repair all the windows affected and stop it from happening it again.
Can we buy more of that material in order to replace it ??
What is the best moisture control available ??
The bottoms of my day/night shades are turning all "wavy" from the moisture

Thnx again to all

Jo

Cant tell you how to fix it, but I know we all suffer from moisture inside the camper. You should be fine in the summer. In the cooler weather you need to open a window from time to time or just leave a window cracked open. I know some even have some type of small portable dehumidifier in their units.

I know I read on here not too long ago about mold and someone saying what you want to use on mold to kill it completely is white vinegar. It will have a little odor in the beginning, but the odor will dissipate and the mold should be killed off.

plus, some stores carry little containers of some material that soaks up moisture in the air, like for damp basements, that might work without using electricity

RVs do not like to sit. They tend to deteriorate quickly when sitting.

They are labor intensive to maintain and unless you use them frequently; fall into the "its cheaper to rent" category.

Old adage "If it flies or floats its cheaper to rent."

We spend much of the year at the Oregon coast. We run a dehumidifier at least 12 hours/day while camping. While in storage it is on a timer and runs runs for one hour twice a day.
