Just put Michelin Ribs on CC 34RLSA

Well in less than a year I blew out all 4 Goodyear Marathons on my 2013. At the end of last year I blew 2 and did $5000 of damage to my rig and last week it blew the other 2 but with negligible damage that I fixed myself already. I had to leave the trailer on 71 in Austin because I only had one spare (I now have 2) and go and get 2 tires. These tires were 3 years old, I had a tire monitor but it didn't warn me of anything until after I took the tires off and drove to Discount Tire 30 minutes later. I don't care about the ST or LT debate I just want tires that work, are reliable and will last more than 3 years. (I know i can always hit something that can rupture a tire.) Yes my trailer is under weight, I travel at 62 mph, I always check air pressure and check tire condition. So I am hoping these new Michelins will fit the bill. My rant is over, sorry.

Curious about what tire monitor system you had, and if you still have it?

It was by Tire Minder, I don't know the model but I bought it in 2013 right after I bought the trailer.

Yes I do still have it but just because I haven't thrown it in the trash yet

I hope you have good luck with the Michelins. I put on new Maxxis 8008's last year and so far no problems. I bought them due to the good reviews on this forum.

I was tossing the Maxxis and Michelin's around trying to debate the best route to go and ultimately decided on the on Michelin's because 1. I have had really good experience with Michelins on my other vehicles 2. The near bulletproof reputation( I know nothing is perfect) 3. I figure I would try a LT tire this time. 4. I would no longer be limited to 65 mph (these are rated for 75) not that I will drive that fast towing. 5. The overall construction of the tire. If I didn't get the ribs I would have gotten the Maxxis. Now I am trying to determine what tpms I am going to use, its a toss between TST and the Hawkshead Talon.

Your problem wasn't a slow loss of pressure. The Marathon's in my experience, separate then blow. I had on the back bumper as a spare and the hard cover that was over it wouldn't come off when I wanted to check the tire pressure. When I got it off the tire looked like a pretzel. I think you made a wise decision to go LT.

No problem. I am not saying all tire minder products are bad just that it didn't work for me.

Anything is possible because my tire minder tpms wasn't working properly. I think I will be happy with my LTs too, thanks.

I have always brought Michelin tires on my truck, this time on the advice of my tire man I brought Goodyears for the truck. So far so good, just a coincidence that I have the G614 on the camper. I have the TST 507 on truck and camper

I think you made a wise choice. I did the same on my fifth wheel that is at its gross weight and have not had any tire problems in the last couple of years. We travel about 3000 miles per year. Good choice.

I agree. I went to LT's right away and don't worry about tires now.

Friends have had a few blow this year (factory ST's) and are now interested in my idea. I was initially teased about replacing brand new tires on a brand new trailer... but now everyone is re-thinking their position on the subject.

I've a set of XPS Ribs on my trailer for about 30,000 trouble free miles. My only concern is they might be on the upper end of their weight rating for your trailer...

I put RIB's on my 2008 Everest. I am going to put these on my CC one it is 2 years old. I never had a single problem with the RIB's. Michelin has been my choice of tire for all my vehicles and my kids vehicles. Please don't start the war on tires for this thread. Just stating my preference and the success I have with mine which could be different from others.

We were thrilled to have Michelins when they were recalled and we got seven brand new ones installed on our motorhome. Can't beat free.

Tire Minder: there is a trick to setting the system. I believe they fixed it in the newer versions, which, I do NOT have.

The instructions on the older systems are difficult to follow at best! ( like mine).

It may "appear"to the user to be in "monitoring" mode but could be in the "set" mode it looks very similar. Has happened to me twice. The equipment was not defective, in my case, rv owner stupidity ! ( not saying this happened to you )

Each time I had a brain fart, I called the Tire Minder company in Florida.
They re walked me through each reset and stayed until I had them back on the truck and ready to roll.

I, like the poster, previously had a blow out on Power King tires. Set me out of commission for 3 months in repairs: damage $3,200. My out of pocket was $1,200. Unlike the poster, I did NOT have a Tire Minder at that time.

Tire monitoring systems can be confusing. Directions are difficult to follow. Most of us "lay people" need simplicity. My next system will be just that: UNDERSTANDABLE !!

BTW: my tire issue was separation . I had monitored the heck out of them!

Thanks for your concern, I am scaled in at just under 14,000 loaded to go, so I should be under enough to be fine with these tires.
