Lifted truck.

I have a 2018 CC silverback 37RL and a 2017 ram 3500 thinking about a lift kit maybe 3in. Wondering if anyone pulls with a lift and how it works for them? Not sure if 3in lift would be too much. Thank you.

Lift kits on trucks "look cool" to many but often create drive train and suspension problems that can be quite expensive over time. Lifting also makes it difficult for shorter people to get in and out and usually that "shorter person" is the DW.

Lifting also limits access to repair parts like shocks, etc. If you break or wear out one you might have a difficult time finding one at your local parts house.

I know that people wiht longer trailers often put on lift kits to keep the tail from dragging when entering driveways etc. Kind of the same argument here too. Raising the trailer on the suspension puts it higher off the ground and more susceptible to winds. Also more stress on spring mounts due to increased leverage from side loads.

If it's absolutely necessary for specific reasons I guess they have their place.

If you do lift up the truck you also need to make sure it does not kill your carrying capacity. Some kits look cool but the new springs and shocks are not as highly rated for weight carrying. They are simply to make the truck higher.

Hi,

If you are thinking about lifting the trailer in some corresponding way as part of this plan, consider overall height.

My Silverback is already 13'6" with the vent covers. I would hate to be even taller...

FWIW.

Technically your at the max allowed height by law at 13'6".

I think the OP is in the same boat as I am with my 2018 3500 Ram. Factory height TV and my 5er seat about 4 inches nose high. I have my Curt Q 20 in the lowest position and the pin box all the way up.
But just guessing not sure from his post what he wanted to lift.

Just thinking about bringing my truck up a bit for a bigger tire. Not much 2 to 3 inches.

Hi Doc,

Yup, I am very much aware of that.

I was just throwing out a heads up, in case the OP -- who has a rig along the lines of mine -- was thinking of lifting his trailer.

On a prior truck that had a nose high towing posture for my fiver (which problem I couldn't cure any other way) I installed aftermarket shackles that dropped the rear end several inches. That was on a GM product, but it might be something to look onto for this Dodge.

FWIW.
