Everyone is different, DW and I think the rear cap gives the Cedar Creek more class. The Cedar Creek without a rear cap is just a Silverback. The factory has been very good to us, you couldnít ask for being treated any better by the people at the Cedar Creek factory. The Champagne Edition is to heavy for my Silverado 3500 SRW, it comes with a rear cap. We have always liked the 36CK2. Anyway we are not planning on trading until next year this time, maybe the factory might change and option in the rear caps

Here's my plan....arrive Goshen 2019. Sneak over to the factory in Topeka and bribe someone to install a rear cap on my 2019.5 Hathaway. Maybe Orvin can be convinced.

Iím not to bright I must admit but I have actually thought of doing this. The Champagne and the Hathaway are built exactly the same, one has a rear cap and one doesnít. Buy the 36CK2 Hathaway and have Orvan install a rear cap on it. Orvan can get a Champagne rear cap from the factory, the factory would never know or care. I have thought about doing this before but I didnít want to sound stupid. We really, really like the 36CK2, I liked the 36CKTS but I could live with the change. People can say what they want about the Cedar Creek factory but the factory has been very, very good to us. I want to stay with the Cedar Creek brand. Iím going to Alaska next year and after two trips to Alaska I think itís time to trade campers plus a lot of other places

I don't understand the difference between rear cap and no rear cap and why does it matter. I have a 2019 36CK2 and had a 2015 36CKTS. They both looked the same on the outside except for the colors.
Can someone please explain?

That does not explain what the difference is. Is it something obvious?

If it has a rear cap, the rear is molded fiberglass. If no rear cap, the rear is just flat. If you don't notice a difference, you probably got a 2019 that still had a rear cap.

But a Silverback has never had a rear cap plus a Silverback doesnít have all the goodies that a Hathaway has

Silverback is really a nice coach. So are the Hathaway and Champagne. I do like the looks of a rear cap but my new one didnít come with it. We got the bedroom heater, the 15000 heat pump ac, gas/electric water heater, slide toppers. Beautiful coach, I almost felt guilty last night.

Enjoy your new Cedar Creek, Cedar Creek has took really good care of us. Denise Davis is a gem. If you are ever in the neighborhood Orvan Fry who owns Amish Family RV is the best around

Thank you everyone for all the great information. The one we are looking at does not have the cap on the back. I like it because of the storage, the kitchen with the large counter and window over the stove, the double vanity and just the overall layout.

The 5ers with a rear cap look alot nicer/look more high end in my opinion.

They look nicer, and have a window. Window seems more important than looks, but everyone likes what they like. I think the Vilano doesn't have cap either. I'd be more concerned with what kind of frame, brakes, springs, hydraulics, tires, etc. But that's just me.

The wife and I purchased a 2018 36CK2 at the end of 2017. We pull it with a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD diesel. I only added a helper spring on the rear end of the truck just to help level out the load. Pulls fantastically. We were originally looking at the 34 RL2, but switched to this unit also because we can access the bathroom and the refrigerator without moving any slides. Plus, my wife absolutely loves the storage space in this unit, and the separate pantry.

I am writing this from Topeka Indiana as we speak. Angie Oliver at Cedar Creek was able to squeeze me in to one of her tours today. I do agree the factory has been great . Further my unit is currently being serviced by orvan. Said I would be his last serviced unit for 2018. What an absolute gem of a service shop! Iím almost afraid to mention it because of the great job that he does . Donít want the secret to get out! He is repairing issues on my unit I didnít even know about.

The secret is long out. Tell Orvan hi. Tell Angie hi and tell her to tell George Hi. I'll see 'em in August. These are great, great folks.

I'd not pull it with a 3/4 ton, but many do. I've had issues, all fixed by CC, and I may have the best unit in the country. I DO want new bigger tires though! LOL Santa????

I agree with BandJ (even if he roots for the Razorbacks) that there is no secret about Orvan Fry and the quality of work that he does. We took our brand new 34RL2 straight there after picking it up from the dealer. He found problems that wouldn't be cropping up for a few years down the road. We hadn't spent any time in it, but that was the only date we could get without making a separate trip from Maryland....he books well in advance.

I would also want you to say hi to Denis Davis, and Angie....those folks are so very helpful.

Spend some time with Orvan's Dad - he's really great also!

We really wanted the 36CK2, however it is just too long parking in our driveway...we have a length constraint. The 34RL2 is very similar, just lacks the pantry. We have not had any issues storing supplies.

Good Luck.
