Microwave exhaust flap

Does anybody know how to open this flap? I can feel some air coming out, but there is air blowing in from around the microwave.

Yes, put your thumbs on the two tabs and bend them outward and upward. It will probably feel like they are going to break the first time you do it.

It also looks like there might be a little too much caulking so it might be even tougher than most.

Pain in the arse clips...
you need to put your thumbs on the clips, and kind of push up and out at the same time. Wear a pair of gloves as if they're new or real tight, the edges can give you a nice thumb cut if your thumb slips (ask me how I know)

Thanks guys that is what I thought, but there seemed to be too much resistance. I was afraid to break something.

I leave mine open. Some worry about bugs and some have said theirs came off while traveling. I've had neither problem and if the flap comes off I don't care because I leave it open anyway.

Oh yeah (pain in the arse clips).
Close em every time you hit the road. If ya don't, all kinds of dust, dirt, and rain water will find the way inside that little open flap.

I close ours when we tow the trailer. Others may leave it open. I haven't heard.
I closed and opened the old style, too. This style has worked much better than the old style which often broke off the little molded plastic pivot axle.

The ears, or pivot pins are broken on mine. I assume I will have to remove and replace the entire vent cover to repair it.

I wouldn't do anything other than throw the door in the trash and consider it fixed.

Mined is to far off the ground to keep opening and closing it, I broke a tab off the first time. Then to make the fan blow out I dropped the microwave and turned the motors around so they would blow out

Pull the vent off and install 2 small hinges, door stays home, and opens and closes as needed all by itself.....

Sounds like the factory put your fan in backwards.

Microwave exhaust flap

There are two flaps. The black plastic one and then the metal one that is on the wall adapter mounted to the back of the microwave. My 5er did not come with the outside vent so I installed it....We keep ours open year round.
