new cedar creek 5th wheel with a crack in the outer side wall

Hi

We have recently purchased a new 2022 Ceder Creek EKS and we juat took it out on our first road trip. We put the large slide out and noticed today that there is a crack in the outer wall above the rear corner of the slide that goes completely through it; the wall on the inside is cracked, too.

Has anyone else had this issue?

How is this repaired? we are under full warranty because it is new but I'm worried about the repair and that it may happen again

Pics are often more helpful than descriptions.

Are you the original owner?
You said you recently purchased but also say it is a 2022 model with full warranty?

There have been reports over the years (several threads as I recall) of outer (and inner) walls cracking at slide corners. Most have been successfully resolved by returning to the factory for repairs.

Yes, only owner bought it new from dealer. We are in Canada so will not be able to take it to factory.

Hoping it can be successfuly fixed here, very disappointed as we have only owned it 2 weeks.

Where are they loaded? I don’t see them.

Open your recently received Welcome PM, click on Forums 101 (a thread where we tell new members how to operate the forum), follow instructions in post 7 of that thread.

Wow!
Judging from the stress cracks in the outer wall about 4" from the top of the slide opening and to the left, the deformed channel at the top of the slide opening and the mangled slide seal, it appears something hit that.

What does the top corner of the outer slide wall look like?

Make sure to contact the dealer where you purchased the trailer. You need to make sure there is a record of this in order to start the warranty proccess.

Was that crack there when you did your walk through - that you possibly missed it?

I assume you'd know if you hit something when taking it out.

Good Luck, you may have to take it to the factory to get it repaired correctly....yes, I know you live in Canada.

If you have to send the camper back to the factory for repair, check on transport on the camper. I had a '15 Sanibel that needed to go back to the factory for repairs. It was still under warranty and the company paid for the transport there and back. Your dealer may take care of this for you.

Serious issue you need to take it back to the factory. I would not think it would be too far from you it is in Topeka IN. At the top of Indiana been there many times they will take good care of this for you as it is a serious issue and under warranty. I would take it back there they are amazing how fast they can repair things.
Only other place I would trust is Orvan at the Amish Family RV repair plane. He worked at the CC factory for many years. Best of luck I would not know why that happened other than a frame issue maybe. Let us know

Had that exact crack in mine after they pulled my RV frame down I believe it was. Known issue in CC frame rails are up to high in the back so they pull them down . This allows even space between the side of the RV and slide out seals. I would post a picture but have no storage online to do so.
They put a slide in molding strip in that crack was not happy about that repair. But we were in Indiana getting the 2011 CC rebuilt. Wish I would have seen this sooner as I had that exact issue when they pulled my frame down it cracked at that exact spot.

No, we have not hit anything; it showed up after we towed it for the first time. We have let our dealer know and are waiting for it to return to the factory.
Our hot water heater is no longer working, and the fridge is leaking as well(I turned off the water to the fridge).
The outside compartment cabinet won't open, It has been a joy, haha

We did not hit anything. The crack is now up to the roof line, and we are waiting for it to be picked up and returned for repairs. The awning on the slide also stopped working, the arm jammed, and the RV technician who came out had to remove it as it would not go in and was unfit for travel.

Has anyone had luck getting a new trailer? There have been so many issues with this trailer that we have little confidence in it.

That is good if CC has agreed to have it returned to factory for repair. I assume then that your 5er will be going back to Topeka. Too bad if they don't drop it off 2 miles south of town at Amish Family RV Service (Orvan's).

Back in 2019 when we were at the International Rally in Goshen, we talked with the CC rep and told them about all the issues we were having at the time. They agreed to take it back to the factory, but when I ask if it was going to Orvan's they said yes as he had 3 bays whereas the factory had only 1 bay.

Since then I have taken it back to Orvan every year for maintenance, repairs and enhancements. Well worth it for me. However things have changed and Orvan is reluctant to do a lot of warranty work because of differences with the company.

One thing to do before it goes back to the factory is to make a list of all things big and small for them to work on. Granted the cracks are the top priority, but get the fridge and other things you have mentioned. Hopefully you will get it back so you can enjoy it.

Best of luck and be safe -
