PI ems surge protection mounting location? Cck40

Going to install a ems PI HW 50amp surge protector in my 2018 cottage..yesterday I looked in the outside compartment where the power cord enters the trailer. (Slide controls in the same compartment). Doesn't look like enough room to mount. Where have the other owners mounted this box?..thank you and merry Christmas to all..joe

Have you checked for room behind your power/fuse panel? Not sure where it is in your unit - didn't see anything in the FR photo gallery. That's where I put mine.

BTW, nice looking trailer!

I was considering that too but then I wondered, why not place it at the input to the converter? I have space and it could protect the coach from problems with the generator output too. Does anybody have any thoughts on that?

runall8, good choice to install the PI EMS. I've installed a PI EMS in the 2 trailers in my signature. In both, I installed it behind the WFCO power center (breaker panel). Here's a picture that may help.

Both trailers have been 30A but its not really any different for a 50A installation - just an extra hot line. When I first installed it in my current TT, I used the 30A plugs shown in the picture, but I later removed them because the wires kept coming loose in the plugs. So I just re-wired it directly in line without the plugs.

I placed mine on the exterior compartment between the incoming power cord and the transfer switch. I was going to place it after the transfer switch to protect the coach from both incoming shore power as well as genset power. I was told that the modern genesis are not a concern as they produce good clean power. It was better to place it in the incoming shore power BEFORE the transfer switch so that is protected.

You want to connect it as close to the shore power source to protect as much down line as you can.
