Pin box
Does anyone have the trail air pin box on there fiver? How do you like it and would you recommend?

The front cap faded and while at the factory getting it replaced I was asking about TrailAir and the factory installed one at a good price. Driving on the road I can see the camper moving up and down, so it does work. It’s a air bladder and it tends to lose air over a couple of weeks. MORryde is a pin box, if I had it to do over I would get the MORryde, no bladder. Your trailer has to be hooked up to put air in the bladder. Normally it’s three months before I add air to the tires. I have a TPMS TST 507 and the tires hardly ever lose any air. It’s kind of a hassle for me to air up the bladder right before I start riding for the day.

I would not tow a trailer without one. This is my second trailer with the TrailAir pin box installed on my trailers. I installed a TrailAir pin box on my Cougar in 2010 and with the Cedar Creek I ordered the box from the factory all ready installed..
For airing up the bladder on the pin box I carry a portable air tank in the bed of the truck that I purchased from Harbor Freight. This is a 6 gallon tank and is pressure rated for 135 PSI. I have been using this tank since my first 5er when I installed the air box on it.

I with Spock. I have one and you can see the trailer move up and down. But it can only move a couple inches, how much good can that do? I am tired of adding air to it when I use it. I've done all the usual things to the valve and it still looses air somewhere. <ime is going away and will be replaced with a Morryde. The Trailaire does nothing for the chucking which is my biggest problem. Have never hear anyone complain about a Morryde.

Not necessarily Spock. I aired mine up connected then disconnected and check the air pressure. Turns out on my Trail Air at 80 PSI disconnected is prefect when I connect. So I just check and air up to 80 before hooking up.

After a few years of having one and now in a new trailer without one, I sure wish it did.
I'll either be adding one or the MorRyde. I'll probably go for the MorRyde since I'm generally not a huge fan of Lippert products.
OR- I'll go nuts and go with a Trailer Saver air ride hitch in the truck.

Installed MorRyde and no more chucking or pushing. Hook up and go,don't have to worry about air. Been using for 6 years, no problems

I opted not to get the Trail Air since I use the Andersen Ultimate hitch and I have an excellent ride. The road has to get very bad before I feel anything. My plan was to try without a dampening pin box but if the ride needed improvement I would have gone with the MorRyde.

I have the Fifth Airborne, a derivative of the Trail-Air mostly because I didn't want to stare at the shock mechanism right out front of everything. I had the Mor Ryde pin box with the rubber shear spring that came stock on my Montana. The Mor Ryde was a good step up from the standard pin boxes, but I like the Fifth Airborne way better. Someone mentioned it only moves a couple of inches, but that couple of inches makes a big difference. We're not off roading like dune buggies that require 8 - 10" of travel. It does reduce chucking, but doesn't eliminate it entirely … about the same as the Mor Ryde I had. Weight distribution (pin weight) and where the axles are positioned by design play a big role in how much chucking you experience.

I am recently new to the fifth wheel scene but not to RV’s. I installed center point TrailAir suspension on my last trailer and loved it. I recently purchased a 34RL2. I ordered the trailer with the TrailAir pin box. The pin box works great. I believe it makes a big difference in the amount of weight transfer to the tow vehicle during braking and bumps in the road. Get one, you won’t be disappointed.

Had the air right pin box installed yesterday. Drove about 8 miles from the RV dealer to my house and was very impressed with the difference. Looking forward to my trip out west in a couple of weeks for more smooth sailing

Some interesting info on the Trail Air.
I had once since it was new. But I had the 18K (I think that means the 'donuts' are the 7 inch version). I had to put 133 lbs of air in it to get it above the arrows.
I had Orvan put in the bigger size (21K, which I think are 8 inch versions). Bingo! I only had to put in 84 lbs of air to get it to the right position. And it rides MUCH better.
Moral of the story.......don't assume because you have that brand, that it is the right size.

I've got the Trailer Saver hitch in combination with a Mor-Ryde pin box and am very happy with them. Hitch takes care of vertical motion (seems to move about 3-4 in. up and down over a bad bump) and pin box takes care of horizontal motion. A pricey set-up but it seems to remove all chucking and makes for a smooth ride. Never have to add any air to the Trailer Saver but check the relationship of the white line to the hitch with every trip.

Have traveled from Eastern Pennsylvania to grand Lake Colorado and then up to Blackfoot Idaho and now I’m on my way back. What a difference the air ride pin box made. And very satisfied

Been using the air ride with a B&W 24K hitch for two years. Works wonderful, hardly know the fifth wheel is behind me. Keep grease on the pin and hitch jaws helps a lot.

Had std pinbox on 2012 Keystone. Went x country.
( great 5er) difference in movement is INCREDIBLE.
