Progressive Ind. EMS Warranty

Much discussion has been had on the pro and cons of the portable vs hardwired units. I just wanted to share my warranty experience.
I have the EMS-P50X portable unit which the pig tail has separated from the plug exposing the wiring. After calling tech support I just submitted a warranty claim, so now I waiting on their response.
Here is the message from their warranty claim form: For hardwired units you must provide the name and address of a "Qualified RV Dealer" in order to get replacement units or parts. I posted this because I know most of you will do the installation yourself and not pay a RV repair shop to do the install.

Is this the name of a dealer that originally installed the unit or one that will do the repairs?

Think I would pull out the warranty paperwork read it, then respond from there. It is possible this is in their warranty or not.

Follow up on original post: PI responded within 3 hours of completing warranty form stating that my issue is covered under warrant they are sending a new unit. ALSO, I can discard the existing unit when the new one arrives!!

All I can say is, WOW. And very glad I have the portable unit.

the warranties definitely changed. I have 2 units (one in my trailer and a spare we had removed from the BH before it sold)
not sure I could even find my paperwork but I did find the original warranty paperwork for the unit. its a lot less complicated than the new warranties.
glad you won.

The Progressive warranty and any changes that may have occurred are discussed at length in this thread.

So, are you telling us you don't want another 10 page thread?

I like beating dead horses as much as the next guy. And, I suppose I won't lose sleep over another long thread.

I don't actually own an EMS, nor do I have any experiences with Progressive. But, others in that thread got pretty passionate. Their hearts may not be able to take another round.

So, don't avoid rehashing the warranty issues for me. Do it for them!

That's very cool, and good to hear. And all you have to do is put a new plug on it and you have a spare!

EMS Warranty

I just got a new LCH50W for TT. I was concerned about the warranty coverage if I installed it myself. According to PI's website, it looks like they have changed their policy.

What it does say on their warranty information page is that "Progressive Industries will only send replacement parts directly to a qualified RV dealer for installation."

So I guess if I were to get a PI unit, install it myself, and have a problem, I'd have to have the parts go to a "qualified RV dealer." And then fight with them (or negotiate) to get the parts so I can install them myself.

We are on our third 50 amp EMS. Progressive has been excellent on replacing failed units. One failed due to overload from a bad campground power hook up (did its job protecting RV), second one just quit working.

My only experience was a D.O.A. unit I installed on my old RV.... 50 amp HW unit. I called them and they sent me a new board. I returned the old board straight away. Problem resolved.
