You'll probably have to buy a couple of clamps for PEX pipe and borrow/rent/buy a crimping tool.
Hardest part is getting the old fittings out of the Pex pipe but if you remove the clamps and just turn them in the pipe (a little heat from a hair dryer will let the PEX expand some to free up from the fittings) until they are free of the filter base. Replace the old base with the new, screw in fittings, replace clamps, install filter and canister.
If one or both of the fittings are "L" fittings just buy a total of four clamps and a piece of PEX (Blue as it's cold water line). You can buy 5' pieces at Home Depot and others. Remove the clamps on the PEX pipe where it joins the rest of the system. You'll probably have to put a slit in the pipe over the barb fitting so it will slide off. Repeat at the fittings on the filter base. Cut new PEX pipe at the same lengths and reassemble. You will definitely need the proper crimping tool if you want the fittings to NOT leak.
