residential refrig cold weather

I'm from central mi., and hopefully picking up my new CC 38fb2 around the 2-3rd week of Nov. I would like to take it for a trip for a few day before winter sets in hard, maybe to Tn. Is there a shut off for the water to the ice maker, because I really don't want to winterize the ice maker if possible. I have never owned a res refrigerator before. Thanks

My Cardinal has the ice maker and it has a shut-off that has to be open to have water into the ice maker so if it is off leave it till spring. I can not tell you where yours will be located mine is behind an access panel near the water docking area in the wall of the storage compartment. I got to winterize my unit in the next week or two cause of old man winter....

Our '13 36CKTS Creek has a ice maker SOV under the kitchen slide just aft of the rear most wheel, a push pull affair. BTW we do have the residential fridge so I don't know if its same with your '16 model. Your best bet is to call Denise Davis at the Cedar Creek factory (260)593-4000. She has helped me plenty of times with various issues, great customer service agent.

We have a 38RD. Found mine under the slide about 2 feet from where it turns up behind the ref underneath.

I have a 2016 CC34RL with the residential fridge that we did not use the ICE maker at all this summer. I have found the push pull valve and it is behind the rear most driver side trailer tire. The valve is mounted to the frame and than a small 1/8 water line is routed up to the ice maker, there is a low point drain on the water line to the valve. I have winterize my trailer already and I did not winterize this line since we do not use the ice maker. We do not trust the campground water purity, so we either buy Ice or bring ICE from home.

Are you SURE that the dealer (or anyone else) has NOT run water through the ice making system? Only way to guarantee safety would be to properly winterize your residential fridge. Unfortunately, Forest River does NOT provide clear instructions on exactly how to do this. I was told by Dynamax folks to check the website. Doing just that, I do NOT see instructions for RESIDENTIAL refrigerators; only RV fridges. If water is left in the ice making system and, an RV experiences a hard freeze, the ice making system WILL be damaged. Forest River, WAKE UP; owners need guidance!

that is a problem I see across all manufactures, once they get your money they could really care less if you ever get any help on any problem that comes up.

Our Cedar Creek has a water filter in the docking station and water to the ice maker is also filtered with another filter in the residential fridge. I have camped all over this country and never had trouble drinking the water the campground provides. Sometimes the water has unresolved minerals that will choke up the filter but the filter still lasts a season. I winterize the fridge only with air and then remove the filter. If water will still flow through it I use it next season. They are expensive IMO. There are instructions posted on this form.

We have a 2014 38FL CC. I agree with everything that has been said! The on off valve is where it was described. It is a push/pull switch. If you have residential refrig, make sure you get the device (bolt with large washer) or your doors will fly open and hit the granite counter top and dent the door, milk from frig and frozen items will come out and end up on the floor (It happened to us!)
Denise at CC is a huge help and will be a fantastic resource for issues with your Cedar Creek. We had a lot of trouble with our CC 38FL, but Denise, the QA Mgr and Craig, the Plt Mgr went out of their way to help us. We are just north of Grd Rpds in Michigan. If we can be of help, please PM us.

Our 14 38ÇK came from the factory all winterized. The dealer pressure tested it and it was delivered winterized.

I plan on winterizing my Cardinal with the residential frig next week. Maybe a little nervous with the frig and the ice maker but O well got to be done. I plan to blow air through the lines till the water is no more then pull anti-freeze solution thru out the system. I really wish that we could spend the winter in a warm climate and avoid all this cold weather.

You are breaking my heart. I have to winterize and 4 weeks later leave Ohio for the winter. When I get back in March I have to winterize again until summer.
