The sail switch I know about is on an Attwood/Dometic style heaters. If you go to the library there should be documents that will help you. There are also videos on you tube. Basically it is a switch that ensures that there is sufficient air flow before it allows the propane to flow and ignite. It is easily made inoperative with pet hair or lint and will cause you heater to start, run about 15 seconds then shut down.
