Scare light connected to the porch light in Vegatouch?

We have a 2022 Cedar Creek Champagne 38EL and found that the Scare light and the Porch light both come on at the same time.

In the Vegatouch panel, under External Lights, there is one button for External Lights. When we enable that, both the Porch and Scare lights come on.

On the phone app, there are two buttons - one for Porch and one for Scare, but the Porch button activates both and the Scare button appears to do nothing.

Is this a problem with the Vegatouch configuration and/or wiring? Should we expect to be able to turn on the porch light without having the scare light on? I can see that thing really annoying neighbors

When I get back to the trailer, I was going to pull the cover off of what I assume is the vegatouch wiring in the pass-through compartment and see if I can find the wiring for the two lights - thinking perhaps I can just move the one set of wires to the correct terminals.

Any input on this would be appreciated.

My 345IK is the same.

I contacted Firefly and they sent me the pin output sheet for the G12 Master Module.
I'm hoping to put the wire that feeds the scare light on the ODS (opposite door side) to its own output pin and then reflash the touch screen to be the same as the app screen.

There is an output pin in the J3 section for the scare light and there's also an output pin in the J4 section for porch light. My hope is there are two feed wires on the output in J4 and one of them feeds the scare light and I can move it to the J3 section.

All speculation at this point and another project for our winter stay in FL.

Here is the output sheet they sent me for my floor plan.

Thanks for that. That's the same thing I was hoping for - that I can just move the one set of wires to the other output - but it involved a lot of guesswork until I can get in and have a look at that panel.

On the PDF, when it says "Pin 1, Out 30", what is the "Out" to which it refers?

I think it simply means it is #30 of the total 44 outputs on the module.

If you look at the orange section J8, the outputs are numbered 1 through 8.
In the darker violet section J10, the outputs are numbered 9 through 20.
The green J3 section has outputs 21 through 29 and the lighter violet J3 section has outputs 30 through 44.

That's my best guess anyway!

I am keeping an eye on this as it is really poor design that both the porch and scare lights come on together. Good luck, hope it works!

You're saying a piece of baling wire no longer works?

I'll post back here when I get somewhere the weather isn't 19ºF and have an opportunity to work on it.

I agree, poor design to blare the scare light into your neighbor's campsite if you simply want the yellow porch light on. What were they thinking? Oh... wait... they weren't.

Oh... and Mr. Dan... as long as it is multiplex baling(bailing) wire, it will still work!

I'm a country boy - born in a farm house. It's "baling wire"... to bale hay.

As to the issue of no "scare" light button on the Vegatouch panel, the Firefly rep said the firmware on my unit was too old to have this option. She sent me an update to install on the module, which I will attempt this weekend.

The wiring for these lights could still be wrong - I won't know until I dig into it this weekend. I'll install the firmware update first and if it still doesn't work as expected, then I'll dig into the wiring of the lights and see if it's something I can remedy.

Thanks Mark! My 2022 was built in 2021 so hopefully a firmware update is all that is needed.

I updated the firefly firmware and now both the Vegatouch panel and phone app show separate porch and scare lights. Unfortunately, it looks like both are still driven off of the porch light circuit.

I looked at the wiring panel (G12 module?) and found one wire attached to the porch light circuit and nothing connected to the scare light circuit - so it looks like the wiring problem is back inside the coach somewhere.

I'm going to list this as a warranty issue when I take the coach in for our first checkup. We'll see how that goes.

Thanks for the update.
We're traveling south so I'll get a chance to look at mine in a few weeks.

I just heard back from Forest River. They said they purposefully wired the scare and porch lights to the same circuit and would not be willing to pay to have them separated.

What were they thinking?

They told me that too... along with not telling me where the feed wire was for the 4 observation cameras that stay on. Said any modifications made to the factory wiring would void my warranty. They weren't thinking!

I seriously believe any engineering that goes into many of these units are by folks that never have camped.

I'm still hopeful the wire between the lights isn't buried within the ceiling and there is a way to separate them.

When I looked at mine, the wire from the module joins with a single coach harness wire (via a crimp connector) and that single wire runs back inside the bowels of the unit. I couldn't follow it beyond that point (but I didn't try very hard...)

I'm thinking I'll just climb up to the scare light and disable it (somehow...) and just go without it. Or, just never use the porch light - I haven't decided yet.

I got a response from the FR rep which said she will pass along my comments to the design team for possible changes in future units

Thanks for investigating this. As you stated, they weren't thinking!
