Shower drain

Anyone have to repair a shower drain on a 36 ckts? It looks like the plumber puddly is pushing out around our drain. I’ll have to look and see if it’s leaking underneath, but I’ve got a bad feeling about it.

I looks like its a bear to get to the bottom shower drain. Any suggestions?

If it really is plumbing putty, it can ooze out for quite some time after the drain is installed, but it will eventually stop. Just scrape it off until it stops coming out. It wouldn’t hurt to check beneath to make sure nothing is leaking, though. On a previous RV I owned, I found they used butyl putty on all of the drains instead of regular plumbing putty. This stuff would never quit oozing out. I ended-up reinstalling all of the drains and strainers on that RV. After cleaning off the sticky butyl, I used putty for the metal drains and latex caulk for the plastic drains.

X2, if it really is plumbers putty then it is supposed to squeeze out when the assembly is tightened up on install. If it's a new trailer then they may have just missed it on cleanup, not sure why it would be squeezing out if it's an older trailer.

New or old, it's definitely worth opening up to see if there are any leaks underneath. I did that when mine was new and I check periodically over the summer.

I have a ceder creek champagne 38el and had to put some plumber putty and and a rubber washer around the drain, water was leaking below into the belly, they couldn't be bothered to even tighten the screw. Rubbish!

In my 2018 36CK the shower drain is barely accessible behind the drawer with the wastebasket. My problem with the drain is rust spots that keep appearing. I've taken the drain strainer off several times, cleaned off the rust, sealed around the connector on the floor, but rust keeps reappearing. Strainer should be stainless steel, with no metal in the connector, so how do I stop it?Click image for larger version

I will check behind the waste basket cabinet for access to the drain. I would like to loosen and reseal the drain.

Thanks for the tip. Ours is a 2013, but no rust.

On our 2013 ckts the shower drain is in the storage area behind the large basement door.
It is in this area, under the RV floor.

There is a wall behind our wastebasket drawer. Have not found an easy access to the shower drain. Maybe have to go through storage area. That will be a pain to get too. Still no signs of shower drain leaking.

Just unscrew the drain cover, put in New plumbers puddy replace drain cover. Remove excess puddy, done. Had too do this twice already on a 2017 Hathaway
