that camper smell

Any ideas on how to get that camper smell out of my 28ft Silverback? Is it glue is it antifreeze combination of all sorts of smells. Not to is not the septic as I have had that sanitized in the fall. Thanks in advance.

Take a cookie sheet and cover the bottom with a 1/2 inch or so with coffee grounds .

Let it sit for a few hours.

I assume you're asking about a new RV. The above may help some. You might add several crumpled up newspapers around the unit (ink and paper absorbs ordor). The short of it is ... just like a new car smell, after a few uses with the windows open and such ... the glues and resins cure and it mostly fades away on its own.

May I suggest you open all of the cabinets prop them if need be upper and lower.
In all of the outside storages place a container of coffee and or drier sheets.

Take the cushions outside and spray with lysol and let them air out.

Is it new to you? If so, is that the smell of insecticide?

Out of curiosity, how long have you owned this trailer?

Could be insecticide... Huh didn't think of that. And Oakman,I've had it for three years but haven't used it on the road, it has been our "addition". Just haven't made the time to hit the road...yet. so it's been sitting a lot.

If you've had it for three years, you should know whether or not you sprayed it with insecticide. I was suggesting on the assumption it was new to you and perhaps the previous owner or dealer sprayed it with insecticide to disguise and infestation.

Camper smell

My silverback had an Oder that permeated everything. It was caused by formaldehyde out gassing. I bought an ionizer and that helped some. Finally bought new trailer that did not have formaldehyde in it. Good luck

The original poster mentioned his Silverback is a 2004 so formaldehyde would have finished gassing off many years ago. His smell could be coming from a variety of sources such as the holding tanks and/or vent stacks, battery overcooking, dead animal in the underbelly or other hidden location, or perhaps mold and mildew caused by this;

Hopefully he's not the owner of this Silverback.

Camper smelle

My Silverback was a 2006. It was so bad that we had to launder our clean clothes twice to get rid of trailer smells. Any food in pantry that was not canned was inedible

That is what can happen if you don't pay attention to flash flood warnings when you're camped near a creek. This was a small city park with no campground host.

Vinegar is your all-natural, chemical-free friend!

A 50 - 50 solution of vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray EVERYTHING liberally. Carpet, upholstery, curtains, everything! As the vinegar water evaporates, it takes the stink with it.

Get a bottle of essential of peppermint. Not food grade peppermint. Put 3-4 drops on 2-3 cotton balls in the bottom of a glass or old coffee mug. Not only will it make the RV smell good, it will keep out mice and insects.
