Travelling using gas for fridge

Anyone have trouble with fridge pin had during travel? Mine only works party of the time. I made sure air was out of line and was working before rolling out. Still had problems and had to reset once reconnected to power.

I would usually purge the line by lighting the stove, this always helped me.

When you disconnect from the AC power do you hear it clicking to light it?
40 years in RV's and honestly I have never had a fridge problem.
I unhook the shore power and listen for it to light and go on my way.

I wait and listen for it to light and the LP light on panel to light up. Batteries are new and fully charged. I think I will clean the burner jet.

The gas portion of the refrigerator uses a Bunsen burner style arrangement. The mixing of gas and air in the tube to the flame is easily disrupted by bugs and their webs, etc., so I'd check and ensure the tubes are clean.

Will do. I've been seeing a few stink bugs around. Going to tackle this beast tomorrow. I appreciate everyone's input.

We had trouble for the last six months. Sounds identical to your problem. It ended up being the propane regulator / control at the bottles on the front of trailer. It finally quit working entirely. Replaced regulator and the refrigerator now works fine.

The ONLY trouble we have ever had was after connecting to the park electric there was one instance where the refer stayed on Gas, even though it was in the Auto mode. Turned it off back on and problem was corrected. It has never happened again. I guess my gremlin died.

Here is a link to the one that I used.

https://www.amazon.com/Fairview-Prop...pane+regulator

Fairview two stage automatic changeover regulator. There are several makes and they are different sizes and mounts. Look at the one you have and either duplicate or get close to the size and mount so you don't have clearance problems. I don't know if one brand is better than the other. Someone else might have an opinion.

Thank you. I ordered one since the one I bought was only 210k btu. Sounds like that is the culprit. Holding off on cleaning until I switch out the regulator.

We have repaired many where the burner was actually covered with a little pile of rust from the chimney. Just remove the burner cover (one phillips screw usually) and blow off the burner then light it and see how the flame looks, it is only a small flame and should be mostly blue if it is working correctly.

I always turn the fridge off after disconnecting from shore power, then turn it back on, as that resets it's internal thinking. Then I release the GAS button and listen for a few minutes to be sure it lights. I think you've received a couple good suggestions from others here, so good luck.

Someone mentioned rust. I had a issue this year with my fridge being unreliable on propane. The permanent fix for me was removing the burner tip and knocking out a bunch of fine rust particles. They came from the flue chimney. These innocent looking particles are pushed-up by the gas flow and clig the little burner's holes, preventing a reliable flame. Since the clogging was sporatic, the fridge's run time was sporatic.

Cleaning seems to have done the trick. She's a 2009 model and the previous owner took great care of the roof but doesn't appear to have ever cleaned any of the compartments. If the cleaning didn't do the trick I will take the burner off and soak it in denatured alcohol. Appreciate all of the suggestions and information.
