All 3 major truck manufacturers make trucks that will fit your needs. Drive the trucks and see which one feels good for your driving style. Placement of cabin amenities is also important as is comfort of seats. The smoothness of the ride w/o a load tells a big story too. Good luck on your truck purchase.

My 3500 dually rides better than my 2500 HD did
pulling my 35rok which comes in about 15,500 I got 12 .8 MPG going out to Goshen and 12.2 coming home and that was hand calculated i just picked up an 45 gallon auxiliary tank to put in the bed.
as i too would rather pull into a rest stop that a truck stop
but up on going to the dually the truck is so much more stable
even when not pulling the truck just rides better than me 2012 2500 did

An extra fuel tank is a smart option l wouldn't travel without one. You can get your money back in about two years or less in traveling . I would rather get and strech without having to screw with fueling every time . Be honest no one will go 350 miles on a 35 gal tank . Once you hit a quarter tank you are looking. These trailers do not fit into every gas station that sells diesel . You will be much less stressed when one is not spent looking at the fuel gauge .

Well stated.

I used to worry and I usually have fuel in a few Jerry cans but that's only so I can drive it until the low fuel light comes on and know I can get some place. Using cans I can walk them into a station if I really have to. Eventually I learned to just unhitch on the berm and drive the truck in. It's all push button and so easy. My favorite remains truck stops. Lots of room, seldom any waiting and the fuel pumps fast.

Don't start with the Blue Oval propaganda. There is not a Semi out there with a Ford or Chevy engine, but there are thousands that say CUMMINS !! Inline six rules !

truck for cedar creek 34rl

Interesting that the truck conversation is like the tire conversation. There is preference all around. I suggest when looking for a new tow vehicle discuss with your friends and neighbors. They will give you honest input. I have owned a dodge and 3 Chevys all 1 ton duallys including my current f350 dually. All are capable and provide many miles of service. It really boils down to the manufacture you prefer. Any of the three manufactures leap over each other every year for capacity but not a huge difference. I would suggest one data point is trade value of similar models and manufactures. This will give you an idea the worth some point down the road should you decide to upgrade to a new model. Some manufactures have better value than others. Good luck in your search. It appears you might have selected a manufacture so good luck in your new tow vehicle.

To me, the tow vehicle is just a tool. I have no major emotional connection to any brand. I have a '15 Ford f150 in the driveway, i like it fine, my wife loves it.

I just sold a 2012 chevy 2500 LT, it was fine for the job, I liked it well enough.

I'm sure the dodge will be the same. What really honed me in on the dodge though were the increased numbers, the aisin transmission, the coil over springs, and price to value.

This will be my third vehicle purchased unseen. I'll have it shipped to me. I haven't even driven a dodge truck, ever... I didn't even go look at new ones in person.

crazy huh?

I think you will be well satisfied with your purchase, When the wife and I took the first ride in the 2500 we purchased, the first comment we made to each other was "where did this come from". This was the smoothest, quietest, PU we have ever been in or owned. Closed the deal the next day. It replaced a F-250. We had to add the tow mirrors, step bars and hitch. Came with 18000 miles. Yep, the price was right.
