Turn off whirlpool french door refrigerator?

Read manual, put on hold for 45 minutes with whirlpool; what's the magic? It says press the minus buttons and I'm just not smart enough to figure out the sequence. What setting should I have on refer and freezer? All help appreciated!
PS: the setting question is separate from my main one

You might try posting the model number so someone of the forum can give you the requested information, just a thought

I think on ours we press the + button.

I don't remember but I think it doesn't matter which, either the fridge or freezer button.

As far as the settings go I turn it all the way down to -6 in the freezer and I think 32 in the fridge only because I like really cold beer.

I think normal people would do 0 and 35,36.

We are not normal.

+6 in freezer and 39 in refrigerator.

I set the freezer to zero and got hollow ice cubes. A friend told me they were freezing too fast, and I moved it up, problem solved.

I set the refrigerator to 35 and some things close to the back on the top shelf froze......so I upped it to 39 and it's fine. Milk in the door is still very cold. And I, too, like COLD milk and beverages.

I'm assuming (?) this is what the OP is asking. Not sure. If you're asking how to turn it OFF, just hit the minus button repeatedly till it says "OFF".

Push and hold the plus symbol + till it states off for freezer and refrigerator. That is how we do our French door refrigerator. I believe it is the adjustment for the refrigerator.

It varies by the model. They change models frequently.

From the Whirlpool WRF540CWBM manual:
"To Turn Off/On:
Press both Minus Sign touch pads repeatedly until a dash (-)
appears in both the refrigerator and freezer displays. Neither
compartment will cool."

Shut off the breaker and the inverter. Prop open the doors when not in use.

I keep mine at +5 freezer and 35-37 for the refrigerator. I use the breaker to turn mine on and off for each trip.
good luck with yours

That's the answer except when you flip the breaker off if makes no difference if the inverter is on or off...it is off when you flip the breaker.

I am amazed at the time I spent trying to do it like the manual states. Kids could have done better. If something needs to be turned off just flip the main breaker and problem solved.

For the Whirlpool 3 door most common in recent Cedar Creeks...

Press "+" on Freezer control until the display shows "OFF".

To turn on, press "-" on Freezer control and set to recommended temp of 0.

Set desired refrigerator temp.

Note, industry recommended temperatures for best food storage is 37*F for refrigerator and 0*F for freezer.

Easy peasy, circuit breakers are not designed to be used as a switch.

Somewhat correct, but they do just fine. Never wore one out. You also don't have to believe everything you read, here or in manuals.

Circuit breakers are on the floor.

Which is getting so far away as to be unrecognizable much anymore.

Why bend over? There's a simple switch mechanism on the refrig. Not that I care, just don't get it.

Mine are on the floor too, almost. At 76 I just kick at them.

I set my frig at 42 (so things don't freeze on top shelf) and my freezer at "0". I find if I shut power off to my 3 door cedar creek Whirlpool refrigerator, it acts squirrelly when I return power. For that reason I use the "-" button to turn off.
