U-bolt plate question

I have a question for our experts. The u-bolt plates on my 7000lb dexter axles are 5 3/4" wide. Was considering installing Sumo Springs but they are made for plates under 4 1/2" wide. When examining my plates, it looks like Cedar Creek/Dexter made them extra wide with additional mounting locations for something else. Could anyone shed some light on this? It appears that if I want to install the Sumos I will need to change the u-plates but would hate to do that if that extra width and mounting holes are there for a reason.

I was able to answer my own question by contacting Dexter. Cedar Creek has them supply the wider U-plate so that shocks can be mounted if needed. They shared a part number for the narrower plate I would need for the Sumo Springs should I choose to go that way.
